what would be some good reasons for an oc to join the survey corps over the other regiments?
i feel like this answer largely depends on what type of person the oc is, or what exactly it is that they’ve been through.
there could be characters much like eren, who lost people to the titan invasion and really just want to go out there firsthand and kill them.
others could be proving a point. maybe they were told they wouldn’t survive in the survey corps, or that they wouldn’t last a week or etc. so they’re stubborn and decided they’ll join just to show them.
definitely a reason would be those with suicidal-idealizations and etc. people who have lost the will to live but can’t bring themselves to end it all by themself.
there may even be people who will join as a way to punish themselves. maybe they did something unforgivable in their eyes, so they think joining the survey corps is a way to atone for their sins.
the last reason i can think of, is maybe this person’s family all joined the survey corps. so of course, they should follow in their families footsteps. the opposite could also be a reason; where everyone in their family chose a different branch so in order to set out on their own path, the oc decided to join the survey corps and be different.

Hello! My OC isn't really in the major three divisions, and doesn't want to, but I want her to be in the medical corp. Does she still have to undergo training?
eh,, i don’t really see how your oc can be in the military but not be in one of the three divisions. you see, there are no other divisions. it’s just the three: the garrison, survey corps, and the military police.
so yeah, your oc still has to undergo training and she has to be in one of three divisions. there is no such thing as “the medical corp” as far as i know...though i’ve read about a “medical division” before, but it was on the shingeki no kyojin fanon wikia, which i don’t find reliable since it has no sources or proof.
i will say that there are such things as medic-type soldiers that specialize in that skillset. i imagine there is at least one medic in each division, but the majority of them would probably be in the survey corps (for obvious reasons). this is just what i think however. Â Â Ă—ROWAN
Can your oc change regiments? My oc leaves the scouts to join the MP's.

As a side note, since your OC is attempting to leave the Scouts to join the Military Police, I’d say a requirement is that your OC must have graduated from the Trainee Corps as a top ten rank.    ×ROWAN
I had a plot about another military branch, they aren't as notorious, they have a dark past. I'm thinking of something like a guard or a protection force for the nobles, they basically kill off threat to the higher ups and some even protect the monarch. they're a low profile military police branch who do the dirty work. I'm plotting they and the survey corps clash or maybe stories of their work from the beginning of the walls. Yay or nay?
I think that’s a pretty cool idea actually, though I’m unsure on how I feel about them being connected to the military police, as I feel like they’d be too stupid to get a branch like that, I don’t know. Aha anyway, but the overall idea is very interesting, and I think you should stick with it.    ×ROWAN
