Current mood: Looking for an expression in the vane of "Overstaying one's welcome, but it's not about fading hospitality and more about a place loosing appeal over time. "Overstaying a places' charm", maybe?
Background: Woke up today in the town I grew up with the line "Kingdoms come, kingdoms go" from Dessa's marvellous song LYTP on my mind and spent some nice time looking into the origins of the phrase "This too shall pass" (which lives rent-free in my mind, usually spoken in the voice of Malevolent's John Doe) as well as revisiting this gorgeous remake of Shelley's Ozymandias.
TL;DR: I'm a little maudlin but highly entertained.
