#saturdaystories #poetspeak #Lyrispect repost from @lyrispect "Today I shared an excerpt of a piece I wrote called Patriotism by numbers..then ended with these words: To my Cis Sistren, Non-Binary Mothers, Aunts, and Transgendered Daughters, Black, White Brown beautiful artists, doctors, teachers, providers, wayfarers and new beings... We have been here before. We have faced hardships much greater than the one at hand. Do not despair, but be empowered by the power of your own hands, your own heart, your power to create, to inspire and to manifest. Just as our ancestors have taught us, the fight is not in vain. At this very moment, sisters around the world are marching for their human rights. And indeed, nothing unites like a common ill. So do not claim today as victims. Examine your own predjudices, your own microagressions and check your priviledge at the door. Lets level the playing field. Remind yourselves of the freedoms that cannot be taken. Remember that while we unite as women today, there are many of us who stand at the intersection of struggle and progress. Remember your humanity. Remember our humanity. Womens rights are human rights. Draw closer to and re-invest in your communites, mentor, teach, listen speak listen listen listen speak act. laugh.dance.act because love trumps hate... but sustainable action, will bring about change." #instarepost20 (at Cincinnati)
