I got this ARC from the publisher because I was curious to see if it would be useful in my ongoing struggle with PTSD and, well *gestures with hands* the world and everything in it.
The two things I learned while reading this is that one, I don’t have anxiety (as a clinical designation, anyway) and two, yes this book is probably going to be helpful for pretty much everyone with a less than perfectly well-behaved brain.
The author takes a very casual, reassuring approach which I found extremely useful. Certain behaviors are definitely called out, but in a non-judgmental way, and she offers clear steps how to, as she puts it, “unhook” from negative patterns. I think that’s what struck me most about this book: she’s not offering a cure, she’s not promising a way to get rid of things, she’s offering a way to manage the way our brains can screw us up.
There are a number of chapters that will probably set certain readers backs up, I urge you to read all the way through and think about what she's saying rather than rejecting it out of hand.
Anyway, giving this one a solid recommendation.
