I havenât seen many people talking about something in Life is Strange 2
One thing that surprises me is how little people are talking about something in Life is Strange 2. And itâs that how this game hits so close to home for people who are immigrants or have immigrant parents. Especially for immigrants who are POC. Obviously no one has to deal with a telekinetic younger sibling, but the premise is extremely relatable to anyone who is an immigrant or had immigrant family members. The premise that someone you love is murdered simply because they donât look or sound like they are from a certain place and your whole life is flipped upside down is extremely relatable not just to me, but to a lot of people I know.
I personally know people who have been deported, including people who are family to me. Thankfully I do not know anyone who has been murdered, but a family member being deported uproots your entire as well.
My parents were not born in the US. They are from El Salvador, a small country in Central America. They do not âlook Americanâ or âsound Americanâ even they have papers. And ever since I was little there has always been that fear that my parents would be deported despite them having papers because they were not born in the US and they do not look or sound like they are from the US. People say I have nothing to fear because my parents are here legally, but in the back of my mind there is always that fear that my parents might be in the wrong place at the wrong time and they will be taken away. Recently with the political climate in the US that fear has evolved from a fear of them being deported to a fear of them being killed, simply because they are not from the US.
I know this fear is present in the minds of people who are immigrants and who have immigrant family. That is why I really love Life is Strange 2. Take away Danielâs telekinetic abilities and you have a situation that could very plausibly happen and is one of the worst nightmares of immigrants and the families of immigrants. It gives a chance for people to see whatâs could happen if one day their loved ones might be taken away from them simply because of they way the look or talk.
And yet no one is talking about this? This game hit me hard with that message and made me confront a fear that had been sitting in the back of my mind for my whole life! This is such a great opportunity for people who are privileged to not have to worry about immigration status as to why we are so worried about it! We care about immigrants and immigration reform because we are all scared that one day we might be living Sean and Danielâs story, especially with the political climate that is present in the world today!
I have seen a lot of people claim the game is boring and doesnât live up to the first Life is Strange because the story doesnât interest them! But Life is Strange 2âs premise is a real fear that many of us have, it is an important message and I feel like we should talk about it more.

lylapark replied to your post âMy save file is gone!â
This was an issue back when ep2 came out. I think the lis official blog explained that you can load four possible save files of eps 1 and 2 without having to replay, but if you want to replicate every choice you made, you have to replay. I would check that post first.
Yeah, as it turns out one of the pre-made save files is close enough to the world state of my lost save that I can pretty much continue where I left off. A few details were changed but nothing too major. It seems like DontNod made the best of a bad situation in finding a solution to this glitch. Hopefully it doesnât happen again...

Iâm probably going to watch Geek Remixâs letâs play of it! Iâd actually never heard of it before today, but I saw their playlist and thought it looked good! (I mean... if a game has gay content, iâm usually interested)
