She is an Indigenous public speaker, artist, scholar and community organizer of Diné (Navajo), Tsétsêhéstâhese (Cheyenne) and European lineages from Taos, New Mexico. Her messages focus on Indigenous rights, supporting youth, traditional land stewardship practices and healing inter-generational and inter-cultural trauma. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Indigenous Food Systems Revitalization. AND she drops DEEP WISDOM in her bars, rewriting a beautifully powerful chorus that channels the world. Our delegation was traveling from Lalibela in the north to Addis Ababa. The area had been in drought and Lyla June led us in a prayer and rain dance at the airport. Two nights later without rain in the forecast, shortly after she did her set for the UNite concert, it poured rain. This was a true miracle. I learn something new from her every time we connect. And through collaborate, I’m blessed together to get to know her kind and caring heart, her depth of wisdom and spirit and her hilarious sense of humor. She is a pure and true force for good in this world. And DAMN, what a brilliant guest spot on this project, summing up ONEness with understanding and providing a path fir us to get there.
