This juvenile Andean fox doesn’t know it, but throughout its life it will play a vital role in helping many of the plants and animals within its home range to thrive. As a skilled predator, it will aid in population control feeding on small mammals, reptiles, and insects. Andean foxes also eat fruit, making them important seed dispersers of peumo fruit and Peruvian peppers.
