起 | Beginning

》 There was a slight line of sweat on his hairline. He was constantly wiping his hands on his black jeans trying to get rid of the constant sweat forming. He’d been outside for a few hours. Getting pictures of big things and small things. Anything that could get his portfolio to seem even slightly interesting. There were many zoomed out pictures, zoomed in pictures, pictures in color, and in black and white. But he needed something more. There was something missing. So he kept walking and looking and taking pictures. Praying and hoping that something out there would be able to satisfy him. He finally sat down for the first time that day, and reached for his bottle, swallowing a generous amount of water before he put it away. He should just give up. It’s been weeks now, and nothing has worked. Why won’t anything work? He looked through the camera at his feet. His shoes were worn from all the walking. He’s worked this hard so far, why stop now, right? He remained seated and lifted the camera to his face. That’s when he saw her. She was simply staring at her phone, but her bright clothing contrasted perfectly with the dark building behind her. So he took the picture. It was a simple thing that caught his attention. Who really knows what it was, but he continued to stare in awe through the lens.
