okay but i'm like super excited that kiri has diabetes in look west to death because i'm diabetic and I can literally count on one hand the number of fanfics I've ever read that have diabetic characters, even if it's just like a one-sentence offhand reference. like not even bnha fanfics just any fanfic for any fandom in general. so like i'm really hoping sero and todo will get back to the group soon and they're not all secretly dead bc I honestly am so starved for diabetic characters

second of all, one of the important points of LWTD is that the characters have diverse health problems, because i so so rarely see it explored. diabetes (as you know lmao) is a health problem, and can literally kill, and for how many people it effects and how many people have it, i never see it either? so!

UHMMM ^.^ OKAAAYY Nick and Nadia are two pair figure skaters who have been a duo since they were pretty young children. they both have incredible skating prowess and have gradually grown in fame and skill to the point of having just qualified for the 1992 winter olympics during the golden age of figure skating. HOORAY!!!! theyve become one of the world's most beloved and recognizable tv couples, starring in various ads and tv slots, and they've gained a strong reputation as America's Traditional Value Sweethearts among a largely conservative fanbase. everyone loves them!
the only problem is, behind the scenes, they're actually a very whiny gay man and a very bitchy lesbian in a fake tv relationship who have grown to DESPISE each other more than anything else in the world. the stress and responsibility of their ever-building popularity leaves them with no choice but to finally hire a manager for themselves- Nadia is left in charge of this and, after a one night stand, hires the mysterious (and, frankly, overwhelmingly underqualified) Jane Doe.
Nadia and Jane quickly develop feelings for each other, and Jane fits naturally as a miserable third member of Nick and Nadia's horrible toxic training environment. she tries her best to keep the peace as a manager but Nick is NOT fond of her relationship with Nadia whatsoever. those two seem to have an odd tension anyways...
Nick, ever the hopeless romantic, dreams of letting the world know the truth about him and Nadia being gay, and, impassioned by the ongoing AIDS crisis, wants to freely live a life that's authentic to him. Nadia clings to the closet as hard as she can, not wanting to let their fame and success and intense hard work be all for naught, well aware that coming out likely means toppling her entire career, especially being in a relationship with her manager. Jane is stuck in the middle- she's a proud butch, deeply involved in gay and butch spaces outside of her work as manager, and wants the pair to be able to live happily as their true selves, yet knows it would only hurt their career and put the both of them in danger. with each performance, the 1992 winter olympics draw closer, and tensions continue to rise... i wonder what happens next ? 😗
