Okay I really loved this version of Little Women, but I feel like Beth was sidelined here, especially her relationship with Mr. Laurence. That Grandfather-granddaughter feel wasn't quite there for me, and while the big moments were there, it didn't quite have the same emotional weight for me as it did in the book. I know that if there is any central character in Little Women it is Jo, and that Beth is a very quiet, almost annoyingly good character even in the book (a lot of which comes from the fact that Lousia was writing about her own dead sister and it makes sense she'd want to remember her this way) but it just feels like every adaptation I've seen gives her no role beyond being the sister who dies.
