authors note: this is my first time writing headcannons so naturally it wont be top tier quality! i will try to write for gender neutral readers but atm im still trying to figure out my writing style and get comfortable with it :)

please remember that these are my headcannons i have for kai and may be out of character. i do however try to keep them as realistic to his character as possible as i prefer it that way!

kai anderson is not fond of pda, unless he initiates it. this would be when hes trying to make himself look like a good partner so the public perceives him as "an average man" (i will bring up the average man again)

his staged pda may look like: hand holding, swift kisses on the cheek, arm around ur shoulder and maybe around ur waist. he would be more likely to allow u to initiate it as well. he doesnt want to be viewed as clingy or touchy

in private he is tolerant of ur kisses (on his cheek, nose, wherever), hand holding, hugging, clinging to his arm, cuddling, resting ur head on his shoulder, etc. he probably likes it, but he would never let u know that

kai has invested in stocks and a few small properties. that, combined with his job as an app developer and his parents retirement funds allows him to live comfortably. and be able to spoil u.

that being said, his love language is more likely to be gift giving.

when u wake up with kai not being by ur side, sometimes a wad of cash ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars (lucky u ;)) will be left in his place

kai may even be gravious enough to leave a simple note reading,

"*reader*, buy yourself something nice. K.A"

though sometimes he leaves the cash not for ur shopping but for u to buy groceries, household items and things that he needs such as clothes, razors, hair dye, etc. u dont complain as u live in his house for free and he makes sure ur health is at peak condition

dates arent common, but they arent rare either so sometimes he will plan take u on a date on the days he leaves cash for u to spend on urself. on these days, the money would be accompanied by a note reading,

"I'm taking u out to dinner tonight at *place* at *time*. Dress accordingly. If you would like you may buy me something to wear to dinner. K.A"

or something along those lines. If he doesn't leave a note he'll send a text and either way he'll sign with his initials. (will def write more about this so stay tuned)

he would never let u know that he likes (not to be confused with loves) when you buy outfits for him to wear.

he probably had poor hygiene before dating u. u would've had to convince him to take showers everyday and to wash his hair more. he would shower more, but would neglect his hair. when u wash his hair, u notice how he's slightly more vulnerable with u, less hostile.

when kai needs to re-dye his hair, he asks u if u want to do it, otherwise he'd do it himself or get winter (b4 her death) to do it

this isn't original (i read it in an amazing smut but i dont remember the @ 😭) but he doesn't pay attention to conversations or u talking to him while he eats. he's focused on the food in front of him. u use this to ur advantage, getting him to buy u lavish gifts he wouldntve said yes to buying if he wasn't eating.

doesn't really give compliments of assurance, only when ure literally sobbing in his arms or in a dark corner of a room.

"I've tought you to be stronger Angel. You should be secure with who you are. It makes you impenetrable. Untouchable."

he would tell u, as he presses a hard kiss to the top of your head

would definitely have pet names for u. probably animal related like Bunny, Little Lamb (a popular one associated with kai). he would also call u Angel, maybe babe or baby. I don't see him calling u kitten or queen. sorry

when u sleep u have ur back facing him, depending on his mood u could be holding hands or he could have his arms snaked around ur waist. if hes exhausted he may let u cuddle into his chest (idk y but i feel like he'd normally have a problem with that). either way, u always kiss him goodnight, whether that'd be on his lips, cheek, head, nose, or somewhere in between. he usually wouldnt reciprocate it, but if he's feeling generous he will

“Order to go for Y/N!” the server behind the counter called, placing a bag of food onto it. “That’s me!” you called, moving forward to grab the brown bag, thanking the server. you exited the Butchery On Main and got into your little silver car, carefully placing the food on the floor of the passenger side. the stars in the night sky winked at you as you looked up at them through the windshield. you whipped out your phone, dialing your boyfriends number. you balance you phone on you thigh as you start the car. the sound of the phone ringing filled the silence as you drove to kais house. After a few more rings, he picks up. “hey baby, i picked up some food from ally’s restaurant for you.” you said in a cheery voice, “okay.” kai said, a roughness to his voice that wasnt there a few days ago. as you stopped at a red light, you asked, “kai? are you okay? you sound-” you were cut off by kai hanging up. frowning, you turned the radio on. it wasnt unusual for kai to hang up on you without saying bye, but it still slightly surprised you every time.

you pull into the andersons driveway, quietly humming to yourself as you take the key out of the ignition, shutting the radio and lights off. you grab the bag and open the car door, walking to the front door. after you let yourself in, you check the kitchen and dining room for kai. you stood in the dining room, sighing as you set the food down. kai wasnt there, he was probably in the basement though.

“kai?” you called out as you made your way down the narrow steps of the basement staircase. “in here,” you heard kai call back, his voice still rough. at the bottom of the staircase, you saw kai slouched against the couch, arms by his side, head thrown back and eyes looking up at the ceiling. you made your way over to him, plonking down next to him. he didnt look at you, not even when you put a hand on his thigh. “are you okay?” you ask. kai was never not doing something. he lifted his head to face you, his eyes furrowing. he looked terrible; violet and black hues under his dark eyes. when he didnt respond, you asked again, “kai, are you okay?”. His eyebrows furrowed further.

“do these dark circles under my eyes say nothing to you about how im doing?”

you bite your lip, as you remove your hand from his thigh and loop your fingers through his own, looking down. “im going to assume you havent had dinner?” you hesitated, to which kai nodded. “Okay, the foods upstairs, want me to bring it down?”

Kai slightly frowned and shook his head. “soo do you wanna go upstairs with me then?” you gestured to the stairs. “no.” kai huffed. “so what then?” you mused, finding his slight difficultness amusing. “im not hungry, Bunny.” the blue-haired man sighed, turning his head to face the other way.

“what? kai, you need to eat something.”

“but im not hungry,”

“i dont care, kai”

“whatever, im too tired to eat anyways.”

“well you need to eat something before you sleep.”

“no i dont.”

“fine, let me bring you to your room at least.”

you stood up, your hand still holding his. with a sigh of defeat, he heaved himself up, his posture noticeably sluggish. you led him up the stairs and to his room, easing the door open before almost dragging him inside. you hadnt bothered to turn on the light, and as soon as he reached the closest side of the bed, he climbed into it, groaning sleepily. when he found a comfy position to lay in, you kissed him on the cheek before exiting. just as you made it to the door, you heard kai say something in a muffled voice. “hm?” you turned around to face his bed. “come here. i cant sleep.” you sighed, walking back over to his side. you crouched down so you could view his face, though it was no use due to the lack of light. “You havent even tried,” you giggled. kai moved over to the other side of the bed, dragging you with him. “kai!” you laugh, trying to pull away from his arms trapping you to his chest. “sleep here tonight. please?” he mumbles, drowsiness making his words slur a bit. “but-” you start to protest, “its like you dont even love me,” kai teases, pouting in exaggeration. "i cant sleep without you. i need my personal body heater and cuddles." he says softly. defeated, you drape your arms around his waist. “fine.” you mumble back, looking up, your heart warming when you find him already looking into yours. “i love you. you enormously stubborn pain in the ass.” you tell him. kai hums back contently, closing his eyes. he pulls you impossibly closer, kissing the top of your head before slowly drifting into a well-needed slumber.

synopsis: after a day at the beach with friends u greet kai in the basement, and kiss his cheek, lipstick smudging. however, when u reach into ur bag for a makeup wipe to clean his face, he stops u.

"bye Y/N!" one of your friend calls to you from their shiny red car as you walk up kais driveway. "bye! i had so much fun with you guys!" you call back, smiling as you wave. searching for the copy of the key to the front door that kai had given you, you hear your friends drive away, music leaking out of the open windows. smiling to yourself at the thought of seeing your boyfriend, you unlock the door and head inside, quietly closing the door behind you; kai didnt like loud noises disturbing him while he worked.

after putting your used beach towel in the laundry basket, still in your bikini and shorts and clutching your large handbag (courtesy of kai), you silently make your way down to the basement. as you opened the door kais rapid typing came to a halt, his head turning to see who it was. his mouth was set in a hard line, eyebrows furrowed, but when he realised it was you, his expression softened. he turned back to his laptop, the assault on his keyboard returning. when he didnt tell you to leave, you walked up to him, placing your handbag onto the table where he sat. it was also the very same table he held his pinky power sessions. "hey kai," you greet warmly, smiling. his eyes averted to your arms and shoulders, taking in your sunburnt shoulder blades (sorry if u dont get sunburnt). "hi Lamb, you should be more careful in the sun." he said, his voice monotonous. frowning, you say, "I'm fine, Kai, really." leaning in to kiss his cheek.

he tried his best to hide it, but you still felt the ghost of a smile pull at his lips. you drew back, and admire the stain that your lipstick (whatever colour you choose) left. pleased, you put one hand on the back of his neck, the other cupping his chin. you leaned in to repeatedly kiss his cheek, covering a different spot each time. kai hadnt stopped typing away at his keyboard but, he didnt tell you to stop either. once you were satisfied with the art you made on the side of his face, you pulled away though your hands remained. your boyfriend looked at you curiously, failing to determine what you were trying to do. you hesitated, before giving him a quick, soft kiss on his pretty lips.

kai had stopped working, his full attention on you. the kisses on his cheek had used up all most of your lipstick, leaving nothing but a faint shine on his mouth. you reached into your bag for a makeup wipe. as you searched your bag, kais hand flew to the wrist that rummaged through it. confused, you quickly looked to him, waiting for him to say something. he simply shook his head, murmuring something. "what was that, kai?" you said softly, your hands dropping to your sides. “i said i love you.” he repeated, more firmly. surprised, you blushed and fought back a smile as you said, “i love you too.”.

“i know, Angel.” was all he said as his gaze returned to his too-bright screen, and resumed tapping away at his keyboard.

The waitress hastily rid a table of its dishes and cleaned it, anxiously waiting for her boyfriend, kit walker to pick her up. today he was meeting her parents, and she was terrified. kit, on the other hand, wasnt nervous one bit. though in his defence, he was a natural charmer. relief washed over her when her boyfriend walked into the diner, a bell ringing to notify others of the presence of a potential customer. "kit!" y/n called, smiling, as she weaved through the tables and toward the man who just walked in. "hey suga', how are ya'?" he asked as he leaned down to kiss her cheek and slide an arm around her waist, his thick boston accent coating his words. "very stressed, you ready to go?" "yeah, come on."

y/n rang the doorbell to her parents house, clutching kits hand. a few moments passed before the door opened, revealing her dad, who smiled at the sight of his daughter. "y/n! hello, you must be kit!" he greeted warmly, extending his left hand to shake kits. kit smiled and said hello back as he shook y/ns father's hand. as the couple were ushered in, the smell of homemade food filled their nostrils. "smells good, right kit?" y/n giggled. he nodded back enthusiastically, grinning as he and y/n were led into the dining room by her dad.

"this food is amazing mrs l/n." kit said as he dabbed his napkin to the corner of his mouth. "so, kit. what do you do for a living?" y/ns mother asked, ignoring kits praise, her eyes narrowed in kits direction. kit gave an easy smile, "i work at a gas station ma'am.". mrs l/ns mouth set into a hard line. mr l/n seemed pleased enough. "i remember i used to work at a near by gas station when i was around your age, kit. i respect that." mr l/n chuckled, his reaction to kits job the opposite of his wifes.

the rest of the meal was accompanied by y/ns mother interrogating kit about his life, hobbies, friends, work ethic, plans for the future, etc. kit bore it with grace, never failing to smile or be less charming than usual. once kit and y/n had said their goodbyes to y/ns parents and got into the car, y/n let out a loud groan, "im so sorry my mom was being so rude, baby! ugh im so embarrassed!". kit shook his head, smiling "dont be sahhry' sweetharrht.”. as the car started, the girl buried her face in her hands, slightly mortified at her mothers actions. she had expected it though. “well at least my dad loves you,” y/n mumbled through her dainty hands. kit chuckled in response, agreeing with her. glad that kit was still seeing the bright side, she leaned over to kiss him on the cheek. kit glanced at her once before his gaze returned to the road, laughing, “im pretty sure your mom hates me,”. as y/n laughed back, all she could think about was how lucky she was to land a guy like him.

5 years after kit was released from briarcliff

you woke up to the sound of the water running from the faucet of the sink in the master bathroom. the yellow tinted light allowed you to make out the shape of your husband, kit, bending over the sink through your sleepy gaze. you thought nothing of it, about to turn over and resume your sleep before you heard a muffled sob coming from the bathroom. realising the sound came from kit, you quickly shuffled out of bed, making your way into the bathroom where your husband was still standing over the sink, hands clutching the edge of the counter. you squinted your eyes a bit, adjusting to the light before you moved to stand to the right of kit, clutching his arm. you looked worriedly at his face through the mirror, finding him looking back at you; eyebrows furrowed, unusually bright eyes, his bottom lip threatening to let out another sob.

“kit? whats wrong?” you said in a low voice. his gaze faltered before letting out a shaky breath. “nahthing to worry about, sweetharrt. jus’ a bad dream,” he mumbled, now fidgeting with his long fingers. you moved your hands to his shoulders, before steering him towards the bed, making sure to turn the bathroom light off and turn on the lamp on the nightstand. you were now both sitting on the edge of the bed, kit hunching over slightly, hand on his thigh. you moved your own hand to cover his, squeezing it slightly, “you wanna talk about it, baby?”. kits lip trembled, “it was about briahcliff, you know, just memahries (memories) and stuff. it felt like i was back in there.”. another sob coming from his mouth after the last sentence. your heart broke for kit. he was very open about what he endured during his stay at briarcliff. as if he knew what you were about to ask, he mumbled, “im okay, i promise. are… are you okay?”. you dipped your head to look at him, brows twisted in concern, “im not okay if youre not okay.”. as if your words unlocked something within him, tears started to well up in kits eyes, before quickly streaming down his face. you gathered kit into your arms holding him close, as he stammered more details about his dream, about the gruesome treatment of him and the other patients. it got to a point where he was uncontrollably sobbing, body heaving with every sob. “Hey, hey, calm down. they cant hurt you anymore. youre safe, kit.” you hug him to your chest, one hand smoothing over the back of his hair. slowly, kits heartbreaking weeps came to a stop, reducing to occasional sniffles and heavy breaths. he looped his hands around your waist, drawing you closer, resting his head on yours. “thank you, doll. i needed that.” he murmured.
