Oh yeah, Yautja LOVE humans with ADHD/ADD.
(In honor of me starting medication for the first time, I wrote this while on them lol.)

Listen, moral of the story, humans are TOTALLY inefficient. At least, in a hunter-gatherer society such as the Yautjas. And the Yautja know it's not... ENTIRELY their fault. It's those mobile distractions. It's their monarchy. The way human society subjugates its people into tiny boxes with very, and I mean VERY little wiggle room.
Yautja tribes that had gradually adopted humans into their culture had started noticing a pattern. There has been a specific demographic of humans that performed EXCEPTIONALLY better than the rest during hunts and other outings. Chores that most humans would be terrible at.
No, scratch that. Most humans weren't good OR bad at hunting nor gathering. They all DIED before they could be properly judged. Too slow. Not just physically, it was like their BRAINS couldn't move fast enough to comprehend danger anymore. Which makes sense considering the state of "Humanity." Humans have almost no REASON to be on edge in their day to day life. Constantly looking over their shoulder for danger.
Yautja weren't stupid by any means. They knew humans have a very large diversity on their planet. Created subsequently by different cultures and the diverse nature of the planet itself. Yautja had something similar. The only reason a Yautja would be classified as "less intelligent" would be because they don't understand the social norms of other cultures. Such as humans.
They knew some humans had... differences in their brains. Some humans had difficulties with specific tasks most humans could complete with ease. Yautja had predicted they would encounter plenty of these humans... and promptly turn them away, of course... What? You can't blame them for not wanting a faulty human in their claws. That's a burden. An extra responsibility that Yautja society couldn't risk having.
At the time being, there were four humans involved along with forty-two other Yautjas in their tribe. Twelve of the forty-two being elders, and six of the twelve elders being active leaders. The rest were majorly adults, younger, less experienced hunters, and sucklings. These four humans had something... peculiar about them. Something about them the elders hadn't seen in any of the other humans that they ACTUALLY turned away.
They were... reactive. They were creative. Crafty. Intelligent. Not in the way a human would describe intelligence, but in a way only a species as barbaric and alien as the Yautja could. Not to mention, they were... quick. To the point of it becoming somewhat of an unnatural concern among some of the elders. These humans weren't just quick physically. No, they were... disturbingly quick to react, To think, to notice, to come up with an out. Sometimes quicker than experienced Yautja would think of solutions to problems they were MUCH better equipped to solve.
Not to mention, these humans were so... SO energetic. More energetic than ANY other humans they had seen. Which somewhat makes sense considering those four were the only ones approved to join this clan. But these humans... at least physically, didn't seem to have any advantage over the other humans that had tried to impress them. They weren't on stimulants, they didn't have an insane amount of muscle mass, nor had they taken any narcotics, so... why? What made these humans special? What made them able to blend in so easily when it comes to a completely foreign society compared to that of their own?
It was only when one of the adult female Yautja overheard two of the four humans talking about their... "ADHD." Whatever that random string of letters meant. Humans made up slang in their language that wouldn't properly translate amongst the native Yautja language ALL the time. But this specific word, or acronym, or descriptive...
kept. Being. Brought. Up.
By the humans, of course. it seemed to be something they all had in common with each other. Maybe it was just a human thing. Maybe the Yautja didn't need to understand. But... of course, the Yautja yearned to understand. You were on THEIR land, making up words they didn't understand. What if you were bad-mouthing their species? Unforgivable! They could NOT feed and house traitors.
The four humans were sat down by one of the elders on account of the younger female who had alerted her to the humans' behavior. The second woman of the four humans had explained calmly. No insults. No mutany. It was just an acronym. The same woman explained the meaning of the four letters, tucking a strand of dark coils behind her ear and toying with it as she spoke. One of the male humans was repeatedly drumming with his hands against his thighs, eyes darting from every object they could find purchase on.
"Attention... deficit? You all have this... disorder?" The alien questioned, only speaking once more when the humans nodded in unison. "This makes little sense. You four do not have a deficit in attention. I would say it's at best..." her chartreuse eyes scanned over the man, still rhythmically thrumming against his thighs. "...Misdirected." She sighed lightly. "Well, yes." The shortest woman of their group spoke up. "The name of the disorder is... somewhat misleading." The Yautja nodded in confirmation and understanding.
The elder female had inferred from the humans that three out of the four had been clinically diagnosed with this disorder, and the youngest had only suspected having it, along with confirmation from the other humans and their more knowledgeable viewpoints. The majority of the humans safely and securely living amongst Yautja society were the ones they had deemed "faulty."
The female yautja that had confronted the humans had done her own research on these behaviors the tribe had been noticing has particularly peculiar. She had inferred the only reason Yautja assumed this was a "disorder" or "burden" was because they failed to apply the differences in their species' societal structure. Humans and Yautja have very, very different mechanisms for functioning properly. These "disordered" humans were only considered disordered because their behavior didn't fit the societal expectation of their own species. When placed in the context of a more old-fashioned, hunter-gatherer styled culture, they thrived.
Many years passed, and that tribe of Yautja still turns their heads every time they hear a new human mention that they have this... ADHD. Because, from their personal experience with these humans, they were the most equipped to live amongst Yautja. They were the ones who adapted the quickest and most efficiently. Plenty of "normal" humans had tried (and failed... terribly) at making the shift. While it is possible for "normal" neurotypical people to adapt and survive alongside the Yautja, to this day, there is an overwhelming average being the "non-average" of humans surviving on their alien planet.
A/N: I feel so zen bro. I don't think I've ever felt so chill in my life tbh. Great first time experience with medication. Anyway, I was listening to The Smiths the entire time I was writing this. Such a fucking vibe. I had so much fun writing this.
