Just saw someone on steam reviews for doto saying the game is bad because Billie is "too edgy". AS IF CORVO ISN'T THE MOST EMO MOTHERFUCKKER IN THE ISLES BRO istfg it's a game series about morally dubious assassin's OFC THE ASSASSINS ARE GOING TO BE EDGY. Just say you hate black women and move on

Ok I'm not going to name names but as a leading expert in the field of billielurkology I can't stop thinking about this and it's driving me mad. People always try to write her post-doto as this kind of peaceful woman who can just settle down and lead a perfectly normal life as a functioning member of society because she's sooo regretful of all the crimes she committed and actually she doesn't mind the nobility now and is fine working for them. Are you stupid, she clearly hasn't settled down in the 15 years after she left Dunwall, and after dh2 she went right back to a life of crime like it was the most natural thing in the world. I'd say those people are forgetting whose daughter she is but they micharacterize Daud in exactly the same way. Yes he regrets killing Jessamine no he doesn't regret being a criminal and canonically he never stopped killing. Billie is the same, there are things she regrets and things that will always be ways of life for her. Being an enemy of the state feels good to her, not being bound by laws and bureaucracy is her freedom and she will never buy a house and live there permanently, or god forbid work for the fucking government. I've seriously seen people write her like that. This one story I read she ended up living in Dunwall Tower and working for the fucking crown are you kidding me. She would never work for the crown. My hc for after doto is she either gets another boat and goes back to being a smuggler or goes back to being a crim and living in abandoned buildings OR EVEN starts a gang of thieves like whalers 2.0 no empress assassination edition. But she does NOT!!!!! become a normal functioning member of society. I'm sorry she just doesn't it's completely out of character.

As much as the ending of tkod is sad and stuff. I don't think Billie would have turned out right if she stayed with Daud. Like she seriously needed those 15 years away from him. Not just away from Dunwall but away from Daud & away from everything that surrounds him. Daud is not fatherly in the slightest! He would not have been able to raise her into anything but a mirror image of himself. And she would have harbored the same anger as him and made it the whole city's problem. She would have continued to rip it up from the inside long after he died. She needed Sokolov not just for company but also to help her mature and move past her anger over Dierdre's death. Ofc she'll never get over it but spending a decade and a half doing something other than killing was really the only way she could properly grieve and staying with Daud wouldn't have allowed that. In the end Daud never changed, he never stopped killing, and he would have dragged Billie down with him until the bitter end. But in doto she actually convinces him the outsider is worth sparing. She's matured enough that she pushes past his cynicism when 15 years prior she would have killed anyone without hesitation if he'd asked her to. Ok I'm done I just felt the need to talk about Billie Lurk for a bit

I was going through Billie Lurk's voice lines in dishonored 2 and when I came across her death screams I had such a visceral reaction. Full on big frown and ripped my headset off so fast. And same thing with her reaction to killing Sokolov. Not a lot gets a reaction that big from me. I stared resident evil 7 jumpscares down the barrel without so much as a sniff but not Billie Lurk death scream. Don't do that to her. Don't do it or. Else 😠
