Itâd been a few weeks since Mom returned home. A few weeks since they finally met Mom. Dewey thought that sheâd be like an adventurous version of Uncle Donald, someone who wouldnât freak out every time they fell out of a tree. But that wasnât what happened.
It always drove Dewey insane to be called âHueyâ or âLouie,â and Mom, of course, kept slipping up. She couldnât keep straight which one of them liked crunchy peanut butter, and who hated it, and just other things like that that Uncle Donald knew by heart. Uncle Donald didnât need to look at their clothes or hairstyles to tell them apart, but Mom couldnât even tell them apart with their outfits.Â
To be fair, Uncle Donald has been there for them since the beginning, he has 10 years of experience with them. It wasnât fair for Dewey to expect Mom to know her children after spending 10 years trapped on the moon. They were doing the best they could to help her out...
...Which was why Dewey was so frustrated over it all. He hated how frustrated he was that Mom didnât really know them. It wasnât like it was her fault, she was trying her best...so why was he so upset over it? He couldnât really blame her.Â
A small part of Dewey wanted to throw his pillow across his room, but he didnât want to have to climb down from his bed and get it again. All he could do was sit and stare out the window, trying to not be mad at his mom for something that he canât blame her for.
