Ā was looking in to being a therapist and shit and i...
Iām guessing the NHS covers some some basic mental health services? Because with the insurance I have Iād be paying about that much for a therapist here in Massachusetts. I used to get my parents to help me pay for it
my entire mental health thing is covered by the nhs, iād never be able to afford two different meds and three different kinds of therapy from four different qualified people plus home visits plus travel plus 24 hour on-call otherwise. iād be broke as fuck by now
idk maybe itās bc my mother was a surgeon in the nhs so i grew up with that but the idea of paying for health stuff like that has always seemed alien and backwards to me and the idea of charging for it myself as a practitioner is like. i would cry? i would, no exaggeration, not be able to look myself in the face every morning. charging for stuff like cosmetic shit thatās just fashion rather than mending scars or burns or dysphoria, or the kind of therapy thatās less about fixing mental health issues and more like life coaching and stuff is one thing, but medical care people actually need to have some quality of life? charging for thatās straight-up inhumane, you give people that for free and you give them the best service you can get at that. if they shut down the nhs tomorrow theyād be burning whoever authorised it at the stake by lunchtime; thereād be literal riots.
so yeah, that Ā£100 per hour paycheck would be super neat, but i would literally rather stay poor as fuck forever than touch it. so i guess iām moving forward with a view to following my mum into the nhs?
