Summary:

The hospital waiting room is strange to her. She sits on uncomfortable cushions and stares at barren white walls. She stares at the magazines that wait patiently. She's pretty sure they're a few months old, judging from the spring fashions the glamorous people on the covers are wearing. It's winter now. Cass waits. She's honestly not sure why she's here. This is a place for family, and, well—as much as she loves Barda, she's unsure of where she stands with the Frees.

Pearlescent Moon of the east was a Ruler. She was born of the earth and air just the same as the rest of them. She was chosen by the gods to help just the same as the rest of them. But as the rest of the Rulers chose their patrons, gaining their immortality and gifts, Pearl never completed a ritual. She let herself keep her own counsel in the frigid plains of the east, without godly help or gifts, staring into the wind of the meadow unflinchingly. And then a parrot is found in her garden, and she has a really weird week. • or, pearl was never chosen by anyone, but when she finds a bird left behind after a pillager attack, she takes him in. and he’s, like, probably magical.

Imogen!! Let's go with treat for her. :) (Actually, I'm not sure if this counts as angst or fluff... A little bit of both, I guess.)

I headcanon that Imogen doesn't just love horses, but she's also a very talented horsewoman. Like, if her Ruidus powers hadn't come along and completely disrupted her life in Gelvaan, she would have become a professional rider. I'm not sure exactly what equestrian sports exist in Exandria, but maybe an award winning jumper or something? Not horse racing, but something like jumping or dressage. (Western dressage?)
