This is Lunalilo. A genderless robot that was originally built to scavenge parts from broken robots. It ended up becoming broken itself and was thrown into the “Fallen Pit”, as it’s come to be known. Originally, it could simply fly out of the Pit with the use of its jet boosters, but after a particularly damaging fall, they were scavenged from its destroyed body. Once it didn’t return to base by curfew, it was discarded by its company and considered “one of the Fallen”. It got rebooted by a small ghost-like robot, a fellow Fallen, who quickly ran away when they saw its screen flicker to life. Behind Lunalilo’s normal screen is a night sky design, this was purely for aesthetic reasons. Eventually, after trying to gain the little ghost’s trust, the two become the closest of friends, until one day, a four armed demon swooped into the pit, looking for scraps. The two hid, but Lunalilo was spotted. The demon gave it a purpose, a very similar one to what it used to have; “Help me find some parts, I need to fix a ship”. When the parts were located, the demon carried Lunalilo out of the pit, while it carried the parts. This became a regular thing, and the two became friends (though its friendship with the ghost is still stronger). Lunalilo scavenged the surface for parts that might fix it, but every time it tries, it’s broken, scavenged and sent back to the Pit. Every time, the ghost will reboot Lunalilo and the two will wander the Pit for more parts. These parts always need replacing, so Lunalilo is always fixing itself. The one part it always keeps on its body is the Logo panel, as a small memory of where it came from. The demon and ghost characters (which you can see in the pic) will be shown in later posts.
