And I warn you this will be a long post since, well, I apparently canāt stop talking about Rizwan everytime anyone talks about Ejen Ali to me.
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:
How I feel about this character: Heās, by far, the most interesting character in EA for me. If EA wasnāt focused on the kids, Rizwan would be my favorite character. I like him even more in S2 after he ābetraysā MATA. Actually every second Rizwan in the series make me like him more.
Great expression?
Check
Great Soundtrack? Dude Iāve watched the betrayal scene⢠for who knows how many times before WAU released it on youtube because of the music backgroud. check.
Great character development? Check
Great characterization? Check.
Great lines?

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I like his interactions with Jenny but I donāt think I ship him romantically with her. Or anyone.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Ali for sure. They both are fond of each other and no one can tell me otherwise. Rizwan surely cares for Ali. He unintentionally hurts Ali and just look the regret on his face and how sad he is that it makes Ali activates the override mode. Look at that and tell me how Rizwan is not a fond of Ali I dare you.
My unpopular opinion about this character: He shouldnāt go to MATA again. I donāt want him to be accepted as MATAās agent again, and I donāt think heāll have the heart to go there again after his plan to kill Numeros failed.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I want his backstory tbh? I want to know how he decided to join MATA, how he was in the academy and what happened during his time as Djinās pupil, like how close were they, especially since Dos said Djin is the only one Rizwan sees as a family. His story with Professor Akram, too, they were close, werenāt they? Akram is friendly towards Rizwan and doesnāt feel any suspicion with Rizwan when he go to his secret house.
Favorite friendship for this character: Oh, I thought friendship counts as the nonromantic relationshipāthough I wouldnāt say Rizwan & Ali are friends though. I think Rizwan & Jenny or Rizwan & Akram.
My crossover ship: If you send me Dos then Iād say KaizoDos haha. I donāt think I have crossover ship for Rizwan, any ideas?

lumutness replied to your post: Ah, Kaito. Still holding gems up to the moon even...
Well, Kaitoās inner heart might believe Pandora exist. We just donāt know if it exist in Detective Conan universe or not. But Iām not gonna deny your claims there. lol.
Well, for Kaito himself, Pandora hasĀ to exist because thatās his whole basis for doing what he does. (Targeting gems in particular and holding them up to moonlight.) We donāt really know if he has an organization after him in DC, but the fact heās looking for the same gem shouldnāt just be chalked up toĀ āwell, maybe itās just hope that exists and that doesnāt guarantee that thereās magic involvedā. Iām pretty sure Kaitoās bright enough to know real magic doesnāt exist if heās in a magic-less world. But he doesnāt question the possibility of Pandora in MK because thatĀ was after he met Akako and dealtĀ with real magic. It makes less sense for him to check it in DC, where it really would just be a fairy tale telling him to look for a specific gem. He can go based on description, but the logic of DC would claim that a gem inside another gem shouldnāt glow under moonlight, so even treating the story as a riddle to help logic it out wouldnāt help him.
It would cheapen everything for the MK fans if Kaitoās thieving purpose were a wild goose chase and heās chasing a story that canāt be real. And some DC fans already hate the Kid cameos, so fully making him pointless wouldnāt appeal to anyone.Ā
(And if the view of DC fans is already like this, that heās pointless because these are different universes and Kaitoās story doesnāt mesh with Conanās, itās no wonder people grow to hate Kid cases. Trying to suck the magic out of everything heās associated with to make him fit into the DC logic universe just sounds sad. Heās still an entertaining thief, but he has a purpose. If you erase that purpose, you weaken the character. If he literally canāt find Pandora because it canāt exist, then Kid has no real purpose in stealing gems. The times heās caught people trying to swindle others can stand on their own, but... Sigh.)

Whoa. Looking at this make me think of something. If Asuma had an ANBU escort and Konohamaru was usually followed by Ebisu everywhere (did he have his own ANBU escort anyway?), and Naruto probably had some ANBU himself who raised him as toodler, would Naruto's children have similar kind of escort anyway? (Maybe not since it's peacetime, but...)
Well, Asuma in this comic has an escort because heās the son of the Hokage AND Konoha has been on theĀ ābrink of warā for a couple of years now. (I actually played around with the idea of his original escort being his elder brother --Konohamaruās future dad, who was canonically an ANBU who died in the line of duty--, but for the purposes of playing out this scene that already had Shibi and Minato, I made it Choza as a nod to The Last Tower, which so far is my favourite Naruto movie despite being pretty boring.)
Back to the question tho, lmao -- honestly I wouldnāt be surprised if he still had an escort, even during times of relative peace. Ebisu fulfilled that role, kinda? A jonin-escort for peace-time, ANBU-level for war, maybe ?Āæ
I donāt know much about Boruto & co (tbh Iāve been... quietly sticking my head in the sand about Boruto entirely, like I did for the Harry Potter epilogue, because so far I dislike it a LOT sob stop being awful to TenzoĀ 2K18), but Narutoās kids probably have someone shadowing them, too. Though Naruto is a much-beloved Hokage on a multi-village level, he is so immensely famous on such a broad scale that it is statistically probable heād have more attempts on his life and those he loves than a regular olāĀ Hokage.
Hello. When I found your blog, I pegged you as someone who had a rather deep understanding of what Team Minato's members were like, based on your posts. I wanna ask you opinion, if you don't mind. Madara's expert brainwashing aside, do you think Obito is weak for giving up what he believed in because of the event of Rin's death? And do you think he is weak for abandoning the Moon's Eye Plan after everything with Naruto?
Hey there! First off, omg! Let me just say that you are a super talented artist and Iām in awe of your expressive style, but I still havenāt quite forgiven you for crushing my heart to bits with those beautiful team Minato drawings of yours from a few days back! ā¤
Secondly, ahhhh, I donāt know that my understanding is all that deep. I just love these kids and identify with Obito in a way that Iām not sure is entirely medically advisable, so I also have a very personal opinion about them. Youāre welcome to agree or disagree with it. Iād love to hear your own take on the subject!
I donāt really know about weakness/strength. You can define those traits in so many different ways. Strength is most often associated with resillience and steadfastness, but sometimes it takes more strength to change than to remain as you are, so that doesnāt work as a definition. Strength can mean folding and weakness can be standing your ground when change is the preferable action, but whoās to say whatās right or wrong (especially in the Naruto world where every one of these guys, even the so-called cinnamon rolls like Minato, have extremely skewed moral views)? I prefer to think of characters in terms of how good they are at following through with what they believe is right and in terms of how justified/coherent/sensible their reasoning for considering something ārightā is. Thatās what Iāll consider strength in my answer. That said, let the magic of the read more cut begin because this got long.
Was Obito weak for losing faith in the world after Rin died? Well, letās face it: Obito is not the most refined thinker. He has a tendency to exaggerate and think of the world in extreme terms. (Uchihaās ācurse of hatredā at work right there. These guys have zero chill, they just feel things too damn much, too damn deep!) Rinās his best friend, so sheās āhis one light in the darknessā. Kakashi and he donāt always get along, so theyāre ālike water and oilā. The shinobi system is broken, so clearly the only thing to do must be to raze it down to subbasement levels and start anew with something completely different!
When you think about all the things that Obito did after becoming Madara, putting aside for a moment the fact that his deeds were incredibly reprehensible from a moral standpoint, you have to admit that Obito accomplished so much. He was tireless. That was pure strength and unwavering determination. Because Obito is the kind of guy who, once he gets something in his head, follows through with it.
Obito, like Kakashi and every other kid in Konoha in their generation (and those before), was a child soldier. Narutoās generation, the offspring of these child soldiers, the first to not have to worry about going to war in the history of Konoha, were spoiled by comparison. We have no way of knowing what kind of methods Konoha used to prepare these kids before dumping them in the middle of a battlefield, but it could not have been pretty. (Minato admires A for acting like a ātrue assassinā ffs!) Indoctrination is a pretty staple procedure, so we can assume that happened. Propaganda is also standard during war time. It helps people feel better about themselves if they paint the enemies that theyāre going to have to kill as little more than animals and devils.
My point is that, by the time Obito went out to Kannabi Bridge, Konoha had already sufficiently motivated him to want to change the world and make it a better place. He wanted to do it from within Konoha (by becoming Hokage) because he believed with his whole heart that his village was a good place (see: indoctrination). He also wanted to do this with his friends beside him (when he wakes next to Madara, one of the first things he says is that heās glad that his teamwork with Kakashi is going to improve now that they share sharingan).
Madara chipped away at Obitoās beliefs and forced him to let go of the rose-tinted lenses with which he perceived Konoha, so that he wouldnāt want to return home or keep the village as it was. Madara made a nihilist out of Obito using nothing but logic. He posed the question: if not for Konoha, would your friends have been in that dangerous situation? And the only answer to that was no. Then Madara used the fact that Obito was accustomed to Konoha asking him to sacrifice himself for the good of others to ask him to do the exact same thing for himself.
In a way, Madara did Obito a favour by breaking him out of that close-minded way of thinking that Konoha could do no wrong. Freedom of thought and child soldiers are not two things that typically go well together, you know? On the other hand, Madara took advantage of the mindset that Konoha had instilled in Obito to get him to do what he wanted without Obito realising it.
I believe that Obito showed strength here. He became convinced that the world needed to be made better and he sacrificed himself ā his identity, his nature, his connection to his remaining friends ā to make sure that it happened.
Obito was not weak for opening his eyes and seeing the world for what it truly was. He was a little weak in accepting Madaraās Moonās Eye Plan as the only way to fix it. That was naĆÆve of him. However: he was a child soldier who was just learning to think for himself. It would be unreasonable to expect him to be able to start thinking about everything at once. He had to take baby steps. (Besides, he eventually started to add his own changes to the pre-established plan, diverging from Madaraās orders and showing that he didnāt necessarily agree with everything that Madara said.)
What does that amount to? I donāt know. As far as Iām concerned, he was both strong and weak here, but he went on to build himself into a strong character over this weakness.
Regarding Obitoās abandonment of the Moonās Eye Plan after Narutoās Talk no Jutsu⦠Iāll be honest. I hate that so much that I rage quit the manga when it happened. I only picked it back up because a friend told me that Obito was doing awesome things with Kakashi and that Rin had made some sort of comeback. And, yes, seeing Obito and Kakashi fight side by side one more time was cool, but⦠it just wasnāt the same. That wasnāt the Obito Iād come to know any more. His character was done a huge disservice at the end there. The overall storyās need to make Naruto the saviour robbed Obito of the ending he deserved. I would have liked Obito to reach a compromise with Naruto et al. that was like āok, Madaraās methods are messed up, I see that now, but I have valid questions that will be addressed after weāre done taking him out.ā
(Because Obito didnāt really like Madara, you can tell. My guess is that Obito would have rathered bring the old man back to life just before casting the genjutsu, so that Madara could have his happy ending, but no chance to interfere with Obitoās plans. At least, he didnāt seem thrilled that Madara was brought back as an Edo Tensei.)
I get why the plot required Narutoās TnJ to work and I get why Naruto had to be the one who changed Obitoās mind (because heās the freaking messiah who can never fail!!one), even though Naruto had no connection to Obito and they were nothing alike aside from the fact that they were lonely as children and wanted to be Hokage (FOR TOTALLY DIFFERENT REASONS!!one *ahem*) Kakashiās the one who should have had that conversation with Obito (and I will forever be salty that Naruto 100% shut down Kakashiās attempt to do just that when they first unmasked Obito).
I also understand that Obito was emotionally worn down by this point. He sought out Naruto during the 5 Kage meeting to reaffirm his purpose, so, yeah, Obito had doubts and he took that moment to assure himself that he was on the right path. Naruto was too stupid/concerned about Sasuke to realise that this was his chance to have a heart to heart with Obito and talk him out of his plan before anyone else died, and Kakashi was too much of a ninja, focused on his one job ā to kill the enemy/protect Naruto ā to consider it a possibility. Towards the end, Obito was also tired from fighting Kakashi and dealing with Kabuto. Itās at the moment right before a plan comes together that it is most frail and most susceptible to falling apart.
Anyway, Obito started out the war stronger and more committed than ever before: he had triple checked himself to make sure that his cause was right and no one had been able to deny that the ninja system was messed up. Even the good guys (barring Naruto), while talking amongst themselves, were all kinda āyeah, well, uhm, yeah, someone should do something about thatā. Due to the plotās need to make Naruto look strong, though, Obito had to be made weak, even though this volte face went entirely against his character. You do not spend years committing horrible acts that contradict your nature (Obitoās true nature was kind) because you feel that there is a problem that needs fixing, only to turn around at the last moment and let a 5 minute conversation with a stranger convince you that that issue you were so desperate to correct never needed addressing in the first place.
Bottom line, Obito was a strong character made weak at the very end by shounen plot requirements (though if Fullmetal Alchemist has taught us anything is that you donāt need to sacrifice character to have a satisfying ending and genre is no excuse for poorly executed plot).

You know, Akimi? I have so much fun scrolling through your tag of "akimi's crush denial". Yes, let's drown together. Be Obito lovers like us. ;)))
LUTHFI!! HOW COULD YOU?! Ah, I should have known. You love Obito a lot⦠Iām so tempted to join you⦠but I ⦠canāt. Not tonightā¦. but maybe one day soon ā¦Ā
(ššš I love how everyoneās likeĀ āYOU MUST LOVE OBITO!!ā and Iām likeĀ ānoā, and Luthfi is like,Ā āJoin me in loving Obitoā and Iām likeĀ āHMMMM maybe, I might just āā) But you asked so nicely ā¦Ā ššššĀ
But Iām glad youāre getting so much entertainment from this!! Itās actually been a lot of fun for me too! Itās really been amazing to see how many people have participated in this silly little thing just because they can, and because they were having fun too! (And I hope everyone knows that theyāre more than welcome to participate! Youāre not being rude or overstepping by tagging me in stuff, even if weāve never interacted before! You guys are such lovely little peaches and I cherish every single one of youĀ š)Ā
And I apologize in advance to anyone whose post I missed! Iām going back through and trying to reblog the things I accidentally skipped on my first sweep through. (I have 5 Tumblr tabs up on my dash trying to reblog everything, and trying to remember what Iāve already reblogged or not!)Ā
Thank you to everyone who has reblogged stuff for me or created stuff for me, and is continuing to do so! Todayās been so wild but itās been so much fun and it honestly put me in such a good mood! It made my heart so happy!! (you guys did. Not Obito. never Obito ⦠er. ⦠well⦠hm, anyway.)Ā
Mark, your video brought me to tears. Several times. Because I can't help but re-watch it over and over. I already love Kakashi's life story, but this is the first time I heard that song and you made me love it too. You had an interesting way to draw their eyes too, and I can't help but focus on Obito's sharingan all the time (the one in Kakashi's socket, that is).
AAAAAAA IM SORRY FOR THE TEARS FRIEND! im so happy you like the song honestly that musical....is full of things i wanna use for naruto animatics ngl.....I def recommend it ;) 10/10.Ā
Also thank you so much!!! I honestly love drawing Obito sharingan (Either on him or Kakashi; i just love the mangekyo design ;v;)Ā
Hi. Obito fan here. Lenient? Please don't be lenient towards him. I love this character for his complexity (and madness), but the adult him being a good person is a neverending debate. Though I have a feeling that we don't agree about how to interpret his motivation regarding Rin, I do know that he did killed thousands. You may forgive him or not forgive him, but *forgetting* how his actions have bad consequences is foolish. Don't gloss over that.
I know. I understand you liking him because I am a fan of villains myself (not Obito tho lol). In fact, I absolutely loved Tobi/the Masked Man as the villain. It was just what we were introduced to after the mask was broken that isn't really appealing to me but I digress. And yes, while you love villains and their complexity, you can't simply ignore the bad things they have done. I mean, I love Itachi ffs and there's a pretty long list of the wrongs that he has done. There's nothing wrong with loving a bad guy for being a bad guy. But there's something wrong with ignoring every wrong they've done just because they're "good" now (*side eyes Orochimaru*). The way the villains get 'redeemed' in this series is a bit too far-fetched. The theme was pretty realistic at first, like with Zabuza, Neji, or even Gaara to se extent, but it just got repetitive and a lot less meaningful as the story went on. And then there's the added glorification by the fandom which makes it even more annoying: Itachi is the best brother ever, Obito is good because at one time he wanted to be Hokage, etc. Like, it's okay. You can admit and acknowledge the fuck ups they've done and still love them. Just don't ignore those fuck ups.
