Luke, John & Paul ..... Part 2

You are Diane Warren and you probably get a lot of offers. Who do you choose? Actually, I'm surprised over the appearance of hers on some records, but they do make sense in a hindsight. For instance, Steve Lukather of Toto did his solo debut, which contains one of the songs penned by her. I don't think his work with the band alone convinced her to collaborate, both of them share the fact they are the session music pros, which can be heard on Lukather's album as well. Sure, this is a collection of pieces that was done by the competent musicians. There's nothing upsetting about this, yet here's a thing I always try to reiterate – why do those who have a steady gig have to repeat the tricks of the latter, when they are on their own? Why must Mr. Lukather do a Toto LP as his?

Now off to TV, my recommendation for today is Crazy ex-Girlfriend. It’s a comedy/drama/musical show and even men can watch it, despite the musical parts. Because they’re hardly ever serious and there’s only about two musical numbers in each 43 minute show. Even though the singing and dancing is perfect and on an inredibly high level it’s so very funny (listen to all the lyrics!). They’re making fun of musicals, of typical male and female behaviour, of all kinds of stereotypes and so much more!  Oh, and the music parts cover all styles of popular music from the last decades. Watch it!
