The Brazilian Rosewood was imported in 1967 by a veneer dealer who supplied it to Herman Miller. This veneer was purchased from a rare veneer dealer who was liquidating the collection of the grandson of the original importer. It has been illegal to bring this wood into the USA since 1992.
