Someone I Know There is a person I know, who often centred the show. One of few through which I grew, and not just ‘anyone’ who once I knew. Experience learnt and complexity gained, I was never framed! Places visited and journeys made, we all of us made the grade. Relationships in place over time, but not always in rhyme, Groups to consult, and opinions agreed, clients persuaded and graded. Un-false reports line after line, everything ready to shine. Smiles for miles, but with restlessness, building to stress. Out-time is best away from the rest, when personal thoughts exchanged, Directions of life portrayed, learning more but no sharp blade, Secrets retained, and the boundary known, but nothing has flown. Like a dance being learnt, the steps bring the rhythm, no schism. Changes in direction as always in life, and new roads appear, no fear. Adaptations made, connections severed, some rejoined, new coin. Expectations cannot be resolved, until a new way is found, new ground The light then right, there is no fright, but history gathers, glass shatters. A calm appears to ease the fears, life begins again each day, no tears. But the past remains, as the future must go forward, in trust. Like the circle we go around, we are desperate to find common ground, Then events pour out concern, and in such we learn, but hearts burn. This someone I know, who is not “on show” and does not come from the gun. Did not arrive on the day, just stayed away, maybe to pray, no bouquet. Life is too sharp when dread falls, and we then must depart, take heart. This someone I know suffered loss, like most of us. Poem/Lyric Richard Walker 4 Oct 2005 Note: this really is about someone I know. Its about a relationship and a real friendship, about trials and differences, about a certain life...
