There was no one around when I crawled out of the tent. The stars twinkled above as I made my way to the dying campfire. Voices from inside of the closed tent registered inside of my brain as I sat on the damp ground.
"My dear." It was Milton. I couldn't help myself and leaned forward. "we lost so many friends and family. I just- I couldn't help myself."
"I know." Another voice arose, it was Virgil's.
"It's just- we have the space and-"
"I know, I know. But they're just teenagers," Virgil said.
I straightened up. Then there was silence.
"Let's continue this in morning. Okay?"
A pause.
"I love you."
"I love you too, my dear."
