Well, If Sanemi Shinazugawa and Giyuu Tomioka were to compete for the Reader’s attention, the clash would be hilariously tense but emotionally charged, because their personalities are so opposite—and that contrast would fuel everything about how they try to win you over.

Sanemi Shinazugawa is loud, agressive, and stated from others to have a temper. The Wind Hashira is anything but subtle. If he wants your attention, you’ll know it.

If he sees you talking to Giyuu? Oh, he’s glaring daggers, scoffing loudly, and might physically stand between you. “Tch. You wasting your time with him?”

Sometimes - he considers it a tactic - Sanemi acts like he doesn’t care, but in the end always shows up wherever you are. Just returned from a mission? What a coincidence, you guys both can walk up the mountain to have each other’s backs.

Tries to impress you with physical strength or combat skills. But - similar to his little brother, Genya - Sanemi gets flustered and yells when he catches feelings too strong to hide.

“Whatch you’re lookin at?”

Giyuu Tomioka? Quiet, awkward, emotionally deep. Complete opposite. He’s emotionally reserved, but when he wants your attention, it’s subtle and heart-melting.

He won’t start a fight with Sanemi, but you’ll notice small signs—like him lingering a bit longer near you, or even talking back. At one of the Hashira meetings, Sanemi’s third one, you thought to sit next to the Wind Hashira to show you weren’t ticked off by his brute nature.

However, like an unexpected storm, Giyuu placed himself directly across from Sanemi. Thank goodness it was a short meeting, or else another staring contest between them would've resulted in a fight.

Unknown to the Water Hashira, his acts towards you are thoughtful, like fixing something for you without saying a word. When he finally speaks his mind, it’s direct and devastatingly sincere. His one-liners are unintentionally romantic: “I feel at peace when you’re around.”
