Hey! I've been following your Walk the Same blog for a while and just happened upon this one. I love your heart for the Lord and mission! It's so refreshing—especially in the design world. I'm also a graphic designer and have been trying to find ways to serve God through my work. You are an inspiration! :)
Hey there,
Thank you for you kind words. Really appreciate it and I hope what we do blesses you. We are actually on the look out for designers to be part of our team. Would you be interested in joining in? If so, I can give you a link to our application form.

Whew, editing a theme is far more confusing than I remember.
Here is my first entry for The Bible Experiment . I don't have time to edit it at the moment, so it may not completely follow the guidelines or read smoothly, but it will do for now.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper. --Psalm 1:1-3
For the beginning of this project, I thought it would be appropriate to look first at Psalms and Proverbs... also, I didn't have any other ideas. Anywayyy, it was a good decision, because in Psalm 1 I was reminded of what I should know but often forget to put into practice: avoid sinful behavior and focus on God's law/will. Somewhere in my room, likely buried under architecture magazines and scented lotions, is an old notebook where I used to jot down verses to memorize. This is one of my many good-intentioned ventures that broke over the past few years, slowly supplanted by solitaire and Hulu, among other things. What I've learned from looking back over 2013 is that I have far too many bad habits and far too little self-discipline. I'd like to rectify this soon. Perhaps discipline should be the theme of these devotions?
Onward! I don't have much to say about my reading of Proverbs 1 for the time being. It was, as always, a good reminder that "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." I think it's high time I started praying for wisdom again.
Regarding bad habits... I have just come across that part of 2nd Corinthians where Paul discusses his "thorn in the flesh", and how the Lord allowed it to remain with him despite his prayers that it would be removed.
And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. --2 Corinthians 12:9-10
This is a difficult section for me to understand, although I recognize its importance in my life. I won't go into detail now as this entry is becoming rather longer than I expected, but I constantly struggle with weaknesses (involving gluttony, lust, sloth, to name a few). I just cannot yet seem to grasp this concept of allowing Christ's power to "rest upon me" instead of my own. I find myself wasting my meager strength on the smaller battles of daily life, and ignoring the larger ones, until the entire war seems futile. At the end (or sometimes the beginning) of the day I am exhausted and frustrated and disappointed with myself. This cannot be allowed to go on.
Moving on to Ephesians 5, I find another few verses which I frequently return to... Actually, make that all of chapter five.... and part of six as well. Um, I'll just share what stands out to me today, and you can go read the rest at your leisure.
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and those are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish." --Ephesians 5:14-17
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. --Eph 5:22-23
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Eph 6:7-9
That's all I have for today. Toward the end of my reading, I was listening to music played in another room, and thought it quite fitting. If you would like the same musical accompaniment while you consider today's thoughts, I suggest two Casting Crowns songs: If We've Ever Needed You and To Know You. Happy Wednesday, folks!
