Visited Living Free Animal Sanctuary with my gal. Dogs get full runs. Cats get catios. Lovely place. Wish a few of our boys and girls could live here. HINT HINT. We got 2 pigs currently, near 200 dogs, scores of bunnies, and cats! ••• It is a no kill shelter. The longest cat they have at this point has been in residency for around 14 years. Some dogs have been there for as many as a ten or more years. ••• Absolutely beautiful. Animals deserve respect. Visited Living Free Animal Sanctuary with my gal. This was maybe the most touching thing. Each time an animal dies at the facility they distribute its ashes in this garden and they put up a wind chime in the animals memory. ••• It is a no kill shelter. Blue had been at North Central for a while. • • • When I first met him I gave him a last name, Yonder... cause he always loved to chew on toys “over yonder.” It was his way of dealing with the massive stress - and we had far too many other dogs named “Blue.” • • • Over time his kennel behavior deteriorated, AGAIN because of stress. Running in circles, destroying toys in seconds, jumping, barking... • • • Volunteers did their best to attempt to manage his stress, but it wasn’t enough. It couldn’t be. Too many other dogs. Not enough volunteers. Resulting in that Blue was scheduled to be euthanized earlier this week. • • • Big thanks to huge step ups by @neima_f @waverly.xyz @lara_dawn @northcentralshelter and Blue’s new mama and teammate... @meggrodgers - Because of them Blue is now out yonder, in a world of love away from the noise and steel bars. • • • A life behind bars is not easy for animals who have no concept of why they are cooped up and ignored. • • • Spay/neuter, microchip, adopt, foster, report illegal breeding, and ABOVE ALL ELSE LOVE PETS FOREVER - they are not disposable. They are lifetime commitments. Many animals are destroyed in shelters around the country, or are forced to live, unloved, deteriorating behind bars for YEARS. Until they get lucky, go mad, rot into disease, or die of stress or old age. • • • I wish the best for Blue Yonder and all our animals. For the second day in a row it at least felt like there were more dogs going out then coming in. I really hope the dogs that are being foster find forever homes while they’re out. If you’re fostering a dog please do everything you can to promote the dog and let your circles get to know that dog. And if you took a puppy, or a kitten… Or even a bunny… Love them forever, never surrender.
