it’s at an underground club in new york when carmilla hears about the appearance of her beloved inés once again. she’s in the middle of a feed, a beautiful mortal woman with an addiction to vampire venom, when she hears a group of vampires nearby talking. even if the subject is of no interest to her, she’s made a habit through the centuries of keeping her ears open around her kind. unfortunately when someone is as notorious as she is, not many vampires are forthcoming with information if she asks outright. especially if it’s about someone she’s been keeping tabs on and they happen to be friends with that person.
but the moment she hears inés’s name out of a man’s mouth, she’s pushing her food away from her, allowing the woman to slouch over the arm of the couch half conscious. the man is at a table with a couple other vampires and a human man. it didn’t take much to realize the human is his lover. a devious smile curls her lips as she walks to the man’s table and swiftly puts her hands on either side of the human man’s head. “tell me where inés is or your boy toy is dead.” that’s all it took for him to give her the exact location. as a black cat, carmilla slipped into the night to hunt down her prey.
finding inés was like coming home; the home was broken, a mess, and full of bad memories. but it was home nonetheless and one she enjoys very much. even from where she stands she can smell the other vampire’s scent. it practically calls out to her, begging for her to touch inés again. carmilla is quick to move before she can discover her appearance. snaking her arms around inés’s torso, she puts her lips to her ear and whispers, “miss me, sweetheart? it’s been so long since i last saw you, don’t tell me you’ve been hiding from me this whole time.”
