I Do Not Try to Comfort Her (06/04/2019)
I do not try to comfort her For her tears will never cease They are brought on by reminders Of what will never be
She grieves not for the loves once lost But for those that never were The sorrow that she puts on Not made for one like her
She is troubled by the spirits She is haunted by the ghosts Not of heartbreaks suffered in her past Not of lovers but almosts
The what ifs and the maybes Seem forever to loom o'er head This hanging sword of Damocles With poisoned tip of lead
There is simply no escape for her No way to say goodbye To the hearts that never beat in time To the love that never died
So I do not try to comfort her For her tears will never cease There is nothing I can say to her No words to bring her peace
For there is healing after love grows cold There is gladness after pain But what is there for strangers who Will never meet again
