Simon fully expects Alistair to say something filthy, so when he does itâs easy enough to keep a straight face. He gives the man a cold stare, lips pulling into a tight lipped grimace. âIt would be most wise to keep going. The empire isnât going to restââ & then Alistair is walking forward, swaying his hips in a display that Simon can only describe as tempting. He clears his throat.
The real killer is when Alistair touches him. Damn the fact that Simon Levy is a touch starved man. Damn the fact that he likes being touched by this privileged, prissy bastard. âAm I cold?â He pauses and gently grabs Alistairâs hand with his prosthetic one. Itâs a shame he cannot feel with his prostheticâno doubt Alistairâs hand is warm. He laces their fingers together. âI donât mean to be.â He gives Alistairâs hand a gentle squeeze.
âYou took care of me even though you didnât have to. I know you were one of the council members that said I should be retrieved, not abandoned to Niflheim. I owe you my life.â Itâs perhaps the warmest Simon has ever been to Alistair, or at the very least the softest heâs ever been. âI want to take care of you now. If you need rest, we can rest, but it will only be long enough for the sun to come back up. Youâre capable enough, but I donât think youâre ready to fight daemons yet.âÂ
He pauses, gives Alistair a small, private smile. âStay by my side and Iâll stay by yours, okay?â Â

Ferrus moves through the bar like shadowâall harsh edges, all in black save for the red accents on his suit: a tie the color of crimson and cuff links to match. For a man thatâs poor Ferrus certainly doesnât look poorâand thatâs thanks to the fact that he makes his own clothes. & heâs positively certain that theyâre better than designer.
He notices a man that looks quite miserable. Recognizes him as one of Insomniaâs many public officials. Ferrus invites himself to sit next to him. âGive me a round for myself and this poor bastard. He looks like he needs a pick me up.â Ferrus tilts his head toward the man heâs sure is named Alistair and gives him a saucy little wink. âSo, like, have you ever fucked a poor person? I could be your first.âÂ

Thereâs a slow exhale,  gloved hand smoothing over his hair to tame any strands that may stick out after the fight.  His eyes fell then to the dagger laying at his feetâthe design clearly not elven,  and still Nix isnât entirely sure if his newfound companion had meant to nearly hit him in the process of throwing it at the wolf attacking him.  He plucks the weapon from the grass and turns to the other man,  stony expression not betraying the irritation in his gut.
â  I appreciate the thought.  But you ought to recognize when your help isnât required and is more likely to put another person at risk,  â  he says plainly,  flipping the weapon around to hold the handle towards him.  â  By that I mean to watch your aim.  â

This is one of very few times that Simon has been open and candid about his fears of abandonmentâhe trusts Simon and the hand on his knee feels warmer than anything else heâs felt in life. When Alistairâs hand reaches up to cup his face, his eyes burn, and for a moment heâs afraid that he might cry. Itâs unlike him, to be this weak, to be this vulnerable, but Alistair makes him feel safe enough to be this way.
That means something, doesnât it? Simon Levy thinks so.
He covers Alistairâs hand with his own and closes his eyes, leans into the touch. âBut I want you foreverââ Until the end of time, until their stardust no longer mingles with the universe. âForever.â He pauses, smiles. âYouâve really done it now, Ali, âcause youâre stuck with me.âÂ
When he realizes his cheeks are wet itâs too late to stop crying. He never allowed himself to imagine a forever with someone. It seemed too far out of his reachâtraumatized, trans, disabledânone of that seems to matter to Alistairâor at the very least it doesnât matter in a negative way. It amazes him, really, that Alistair didnât look at those things as flawed like so many others did. His parentsâthe Kingsglaiveânone of those people or things made him feel loved. Alistair does though. & Gods help him, it seems so effortless.
âYou and I until the end of time, Alistair. I promise.âÂ
â
Itâs been a month of being in the hospital and Simon is feeling restless. Kingsglaive members come and go, but they never stay for long. Simon doesnât blame themâthey have important jobs to do, after all. It wouldnât be fair to hold that against them, but still. . .heâs incredibly lonely.
The only relief he gets is from the pain meds and, funnily enough, visits from his pompous frenemy. While he wouldnât call Alistair his enemy he wouldnât exactly call him a full on friend eitherâfrenemy is a term that works well enough for him.Â
What he does not expect, however, is Alistair to offer him any form of physical affection. Perhaps he doesnât give the privileged man enough creditâfor someone thatâs probably never left the citadel for more than vacations, heâs actually quite observant.
âWell. . .this bed has room enough for two, I think.â Simon clears his throat, trying to ignore the way his face if flushing. âIf thatâs what I think youâre offering, anyways.â He looks awayâanywhere but Alistairâs face, which is almost definitely going to be annoyingly smug. âI would not be opposed to, ah, affection that is physical.âÂ
