What the Bible really says about homosexuals
For those that believe being gay is a sin because "the Bible says so" have you ever considered the historical context in which the Bible was written? Originally, a mans' seed was not supposed to be spilled on the ground Because it was thought that the mans sperm was actually where the baby came from. It was not yet known that the women contained an egg in her uterus which needed to be fertilized. Because of starvation and famine as well as plagues and widespread illnesses it was important for everyone to populate as much as they could without wasting this precious seed (babies in their eyes). Children meant labor and money children would put food on the table and take care of the old when they were sick and dying. This is why the bible states in the old testament man shall not lie with man, though repeatedly mentions the homosexuality of many people in the bible as condoned for pleasure, as well as emphasizes the righteousness of rape. It justifies brutality and many other "sins" we believe are horrible today. Those who actually read the Bible- the entire Bible- and actually studied the history of it besides just blindly having faith in what they read, are the only ones who are actually educated on the topic. Before you judge somebody based off of the Bible why don't you read it and study the historical and cultural context in which it was written and you'll find that it doesn't make much sense To judge others for sins that you are also committing. Sins that are still considered sins in the Bible would include: The wearing of polycotton blends, Not raping a woman to produce a child, Not eating any shellfish, Eating only meat that has been blessed (there goes grocery shopping) As well as stoning people who offend you. As a true believer in Christ one should only be studying the New Testament which does not contain anything anti-gay or Leviticus. Knowledge Is Power. Educate before you judge.
