I have a small pond in my basement for my lovedisk To sleep in at night. Normally during the day I would take them out to the local stream for a walk but this Winter has been a lot colder than normal and the Moss stone Creek is frozen over. I don't know how long the cold weather is gonna last but my little guy does not like the cold and I'm wondering if there are any good alternatives for exercise that we can do well cooped up inside this Winter
If its that bad right now then the smartest thing to do is to make the basement as cozy as possible.
Heat lamps are some investments you should make so they get some warm light during the day.
They also need room to swim and excersice, so if you feel like they aren't getting enough then it might be time for a trip.
There's nothing wrong with taking a trip during the winter, even for a couple days.
Alola is always a good option and Hoenn is a pretty sunny place too.
Maybe give that a try too so they can get a lot of warmth and excersice in one big trip.
Lastly, if a trip isn't possible, make sure the pond is heated and try to take them for small trips outside when it's a little less cold, then bring them back into the warm pond.
We actually have a large heated pond area at the base for rehabilitation and water types that don't do well in the cold and they are primarily outside too, just having access to warm water helps a lot.
Stay warm!
