LOUISE PHILIA / LOUPBLASTER
Louise Philia is an independent animator and member of Late Night Work Club. She probably finished 3 projects in the time it took to type this interview.
Muse’s Milk: Tell us your story.
Louise Philia: I grew up in Calais (Northern France) on the border to the UK.
My dad repairs musical instruments and my mother is a psychologist. So music has always surrounded my sisters and I. We always had a lot of stuff to play with, we had a piano, percussion instruments... and my parents were part of brass bands with long time friends so we used to camp and play every summer.
Very early I started to draw, and just never stopped. From 5 to 15 I went to an art school on my spare time. I tried many different things, from drawing to sculpture or analog photography. Then I studied in an art high school till I was 17, that same school had an animation course.
Calais is also a city of theatre and music, even if people have no idea about it. But I feel like my whole childhood was filled with so many experiences and various forms of art. That's probably why my work is so diverse.
