you know how jay used to drive herself and louis around during Christmas eve and tell him that all the lights decorated on the houses were for him? well, to make louis feel extra special on his birthday (since it probably has gotten lost in the Christmas madness in the past and harry definetly knows this), harry decorates their home with strings and strings of fairy lights to make louis feel so loved. their living room, their kitchen, their studio, their bedroom — fairy lights strung up everywhere just for louis.
in the past when they weren't as famous, louis and harry would walk hand-in-hand in london or any city they were in during tours to just admire the lights. in hidden corners and secret alleys they probably stole kisses, smiling and giggling to themselves like two dorks in love.
that's probably why louis keeps fairy lights in his home and studio — the love of his life brought the same sort of light into his life just like his mom did when he was younger.
