I have to add I donât know many who would pronounce it as âEnglish châ so I canât tell whether itâs a regional thing like the âshâ thing, but yeah
I think so, I just never realized it before because well... it's so close to the standard pronunciation that it's hard to tell the difference if you don't pay attention to it.
I pronounce it like the "English ch" sometimes and I know my family does so too. I'm from the South West and now I'm living in NRW. I thiiink people here do it as well. I'll try to listen to it next time I hear someone saying "manchmal". :)

Oh yes yes, thatâs it. The added âtâ AND the âshâ pronunciation are technically wrong, so âtshâ or âEnglish châ are as well, yes
Yay thanks! :D
lostpoeticethic replied to your post: happilyimperfect replied to your post:...
The English ch youâre talking about is both a result of people âaddingâ the t b/c it rolls of the tongue better, and dialects that pronounce âchâ as âshâ, which is generally considered âincorrectâ. Ch in manchmal should be pronounced like ch in ich.
Thanks! I know how it's supposed to be pronounced, see here.
The question was just if the "English ch" is a possible way to pronounce manchmal. I guess at least we answered that now. :)
However, if the standard German version of "manchmal" is pronounced as described above, you could say the easier "English ch" version is just as ~incorrect as the "English sh" version, couldn't you? Like... I'm just asking myself is the "English ch" version isn't as much a matter of regional pronunciation as the "English sh" version.

there is public transport, it would just take a long time and im not allowed out by myself because i get to sick to fast. i cant even talk down the road by myself and guarantee that ill be able to walk home before having the need to pass out.
lostpoeticethic said: Yeah I donât believe anyone would count that as crying it out. If what she NEEDS is to be left alone, thatâs it. CIO would br forcing her to be alone despite needing you. Elliot is very similar during the day. exactly! but people still jump to conclusions the minuet i say i have to let willow just cry, some kids need want and like their own space, and i respect thats what willow wants and i try and explain that to some other parents who's kids show similar personal space/ dealing signs as willow. Its very easy to understand the difference between "im tired, grumpy but leave me alone" cry and "im in pain, i need you, someone love me" cry.
