I’m not sure if this question has been asked before, but what’s the poem your story Like One Sundered Star is named after? I’ve tried googling it because it sounds like there’s more to it but I can’t seem to find the poem
Swinburne's Atalanta in Calydon! http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/15378/pg15378.html
ALTHAEA.
Who are these shining like one sundered star?
MELEAGER.
Thy sister's sons, a double flower of men.
ALTHAEA.
O sweetest kin to me in all the world,
O twin-born blood of Leda, gracious heads
Like kindled lights in untempestuous heaven,
Fair flower-like stars on the iron foam of fight,
With what glad heart and kindliness of soul,
Even to the staining of both eyes with tears
And kindling of warm eyelids with desire,
A great way off I greet you, and rejoice
Seeing you so fair, and moulded like as gods.
Hi! I absolutely loved your story "Like One Sundered Star", I read it while you were writing it and have always remembered and loved it since. There was even a funny conversation with a friend about me trying to explain how one of my favorite stories is "a fanfic of a superhero AU fanfic of a comic of kids playing a game". Now that I have my own job and money, I wanted to contribute back to the free authors I love - so do you have a "buy me a coffee" or something? Sorry, I could not find one.
nah, I don’t have anything like that! too dangerous. :V but gosh! if you’ve been around long enough to have read it live, you’re a member of the old guard! o7
i want you to know that i was in college chemistry and way too deep in LOSS and one day said without thinking 'hemogoblin' out loud in response to a question in front of the whole ass class and 7 years later im still haunted by it . your legacy
i just want you to know i got my girlfriend to start reading LOSS and i was skimming it for the part with the fraymotifs and kanaya and dirk and dave and literally started crying when i read the paragraph with the timetables. so like. thank you for writing like, that whole fic, im pretty sure DD was part of my trans awakening
me rolling up ages late, finding this in the ask box.

more from my LOSS reread: I forgot how much I love Typheus. He's my new favorite character - the Comically Serious. If I didn't have so much trouble writing right now (and if you didn't mind) I'd write Typheus/Barack Obama fanfiction and put it on the internet as the glorious abomination it was meant to be
OH MY GOD
TY: As the youths say: kick it, Barack.
so I'm doin' my yearly reread of LOSS and I've hit the alpha kids boss fight, and I had a thought: Jake+Roxy: MCDONALDS MCDONALDS MCDONALDS Dirk: We have food at home Jane: *pulls into driveway as children cheer* *orders one black coffee and leaves*
That is absolutely correct, except that Jane would probably get Dirk a coffee as well.Â
She also wouldn’t say a word while ordering it. Just hold out a hand expectantly. The poor dude working at the window just has to figure it out from context.
I maintain that John <>Karkat<>Gamzee was a move of pure literary genius
I look back sometimes and am amazed I actually went through with it. I just wanted both diamond ships that bad.Â
