Introducing Desain’s neighbours, as seen on his Trollian contact list! They're not exactly the most important of the secondary characters, but they're up there- and now they’re here on the blog as well.
The base I used is by firebananablitz on Deviantart, and of course the original pixelings are by feastings here on Tumblr.

All of them are about 6 sweeps old, like the Main 12, but they’re closer in age overall to Desain and therefore a little older than most of the main cast. At least Berako turned 7 before the start of Mirrorbent.

Assorted facts: -her powers let her make you think she's burning you. -leader of sorts of her village's branch of a Certain Something that might or might not be a rebellion... we'll see more facets of this in Mirrorbent proper. -a kind and caring friend, and a terrifying enemy also. Moirails with Lotsat.
2: Lotsat Rospia trolltag: obscuringFlora title and true sign: Thief of Void - Gemittarius, the Sapient lusus: a sparrow of unusual size (the size of a human head) specibus: needlekind, a pair of rather large needles with thorns alongside them. Wielded sorta like swords.

Assorted facts: -kind of a scaredy cat, but he enjoys horror games -has a very loved and well mantained garden composed of plants such as the ones in Volume 14. its main feature? some very nasty and pointy hedges. -his powers allow him to hide in plain sight (think Boldir's Voidy Aura in her bad route), but they can get unpredictable if he's nervous.
3: Harrok Bakene (but only Lotsat knew that until relatively recently) trolltag: felineSuperiority title and true sign: Knight of Rage - Leiborn, the Paradox lusus: a long haired cat, to the point that you could make wool out of his fur. Also has mild psychic powers, and like Galekh's lusus, is cruelly prevented from eating everything in the kitchen... so basically, Cat Squared specibus: it used to be a nine tailed whip, but i might change it?

Assorted facts: -that awkward moment when your town gets drone'd* because of some Things of Dubious Legality your best friend and crush (manari) may have done, and as they seem to be dead you take their scarf and leave your favorite necklace with them as a symbol of leaving your old identity behid before taking your lusus and what few things you can salvage from your burning hive and calling a Mysterious Number you found in a scrap of paper in the scarf, and the guy at the other side of the line (mailak) gets you a hive where you can start a new life and even get a ghost friend (iragan), a moirail (iparro) and a kismesis (lotsat), who has the ironic bad luck to get tracked down because you might have taken some revenge by your hand before leaving your hometown, so a bunch of mercenaries attack your new town but it's okay- you were the main characters of that subplot AND you had two main main characters (desain and chirox) on your side, so even if you almost died everything was fine in the end... however, your quadrant corner (oparoa) had to report to someone what happened, because there's no getting away from the Things of Dubious Legality apparently, and what was your surprise when that someone turned out to be your best friend and crush, who hadn't died that day, and who then became your matesprit. *but like, low-key drone'd. no heiress intervention here. -he was suitably embittered by that tragic backstory up there, but he was already kind of a dick before that, so... -his hair doesn’t really lend itself too well to this style, but it looks good enough imo. Same with Berako.

Assorted facts: -died because of a combination of small meteor and falling on Lotsat's hedges, but he didn't let that slow him down -in fact, he plays up the “spooky haunted house ghost” aspect a lot -his powers let him see when is someone going to die (up to a certain point) and more vaguely, what will kill them. after one certain day almost everyone he saw had the same date and Vague Hint- that's surely got to be good news, right?

Assorted facts: -after it was confirmed that psionics (and four horns) weren't a Captor Thing but a Goldblood Thing, he was updated to be one- or at least he would be, if it weren't for that pesky mental connection with the meta of his entire story -on the one hand, he can tell the future accurately, and learn things he wouldn't have access to otherwise. On the other hand, he can barely use his psionics, has an acute sensibility to others' psychic powers (such as lotsat's- in his case berry's* powers even counter his, because all he needs to do to find him is follow the headsplitting headache of hell), and most importantly, he's aware that he's a character in a story and ultimately, a supporting character doomed to die eventually. *Iragan’s the only one allowed to call him Berry. -therefore, by fog I mean Niebla (Miguel de Unamuno, 1914)

Assorted facts: -futura vieja del visillo -can read minds, on a pretty large range. This means the vast glub will get her before the meteors do. -overall a pretty nice girl, who won't get too nosy unless you piss her off. Moirails with Berako, and more recently (current-time-in-the-fanventure- wise) started dating Iparro (pitchwise). On an unrelated note, I love how her sprite came out.
7: Iparro Kelido trolltag: swallowsCompass title and true sign: Mage of Space - Lega, the Stoic lusus: a perfectly normal swallow, only it's an obligate carnivore. She and her flock are available on weekends for reenactments of The Birds specibus: crossbow

Assorted facts: -I know that minisprite makes her look pretty nice, if i do say so myself, but 1: those are probably her pajamas and 2: do you see the shit she has to deal with. And that's a calm day in the village. -if you asked her what's her greatest achievement, she'd probably say modding her troll smartphone into one of those old-timey ones with the curly wires, immediately followed by resisting the urge to smack (almost) everyone in her village until the end of times -amateur cartographer

Assorted facts: -hey, that's the dude in that window! -he wasn't originally a psionic either, but now that he is he's flashier than ever before. concretely, his psionics use colors from the original mspaint palette. -moirails with Manari, but he had no idea of who Harrok was either. the Big Introductions were probably on their way when the Drones happened.
9: Manari Tamaen trolltag: WIP still orz. title and true sign: either Mage or Seer of Breath - Libun, the Escapist. Originally they were the Witch and Mailak was a Maid because I didn't want repeats within the group, but luckily Peak Repeat had already been reached so. lusus: something kind of between a spider and a fox. Pretty large in size. specibus: swordkind

Assorted facts: -outright and explicitly feigned their death and moved far away, while Harrok just took on a new identity and moved kinda far. then again, Harrok isn’t a rather high ranking member of a rebellion-in-all-but-name... -has Extremely Cool Robot Eyes (ft. Funky Expressive Pupils), but they've had those bangs since always. -very mysterious. who knows how many cakes they have their fingers into...
