Chandra always felt like the odd one out of the Gatewatch. She didn’t have Gideon’s leadership qualities. She didn’t feel like she was as smart as Jace. She wasn’t as cunning as Liliana. Nor was she as friendly as Nissa. But she was special in one way. Not a single one of them; when push came to shove; had her raw power. So, that’s what she became. The Gatwatch’s walking artillery. But, she was so much more. She didn’t have Gideon’s ability to lead, but still, people followed her nonetheless. She didn’t feel as smart as Jace, but still, she studied and she learned, and she mastered her magic. She wasn’t as cunning as Liliana, but she could improvise a plan like no one else. And even if she wasn’t as kind as Nissa, she still was able to make lifelong friends where ever she went.

The death of Liliana’s brother impacted her in ways the rest of the Gatewatch may never understand. Having to then kill her own brother again, may have ended up fully breaking her. Yet, even in this darkness, she wishes for nothing else but the safety of her new adoptive family. She may be the black sheep even there, but if they are ever in a pinch, they know she’ll be there.
