Headcanon Ask #4
|| Let's Talk About Headcanons || @lorewright ||
4. A headcanon that I think people won’t agree with.
I don't have any in the current works I think people would disagree with, but I remember putting one up a long time ago where I said that when Jewel and Chase were human (or in a Modern AU type setting) that she would help him write poetry and raps for class and for fun and some crusted anon messaged me like 'um so like what can't Jewel do bc it sure seems like she can do a lot of stuff' and it was an easy response because there's obviously a shit-ton of things that Jewel can't do LOL.
Heck, I thought it was an interesting headcanon because Chase is the native English speaker that happens to not be great at writing so he asks Jewel - his bilingual family friend whose English is secondary - for help! Maybe not a direct disagreement?? But it was like that headcanon was the one that spiked their salt meter. Anon was on some foolery.

[ 🥀 ] would your muse betray someone they love?
... Maybe?
A deep level of trust is difficult to build with Jewel, so when she allows someone close enough to share actual companionship, love, and trust, she's generally by their side and shows them loyalty, but it's also not that cut and dry. She's also a very ambitious person with goals and ideals that she wouldn't allow anyone to step on even if she cared about them.
She can be unpredictable towards those she cares about. Jewel's priorities, ambitions and goals are important to her, and given situations where her loyalty is called into question she may choose her personal wants over the wants of others.
An example of this would be in her first arc (Smeared Mascara) as a Shinigami. Kakos was not only a comrade but a blooming romantic interest of hers. Jewel fought alongside him, cared for him, let him into her world, and raised her blade to his throat just as quickly when he threatened 'the enemy'.
Chase was someone (an arrancar) she felt such a fast familial connection to that her instinct was not to strike him down like it was for Kakos, and the fact that she wouldn't just kill him felt like betrayal, despite that Chase was long lost family to Jewel from their human lives. Jewel kept Kakos at bay in favor of protecting Chase, whom fled through a Garganta, and Kakos expressed disgust toward her and her ambiguous moral standing.
General combat comes to mind because Jewel makes it clear to everyone (even loved ones) from the get-go, "I don't care who you are, don't interrupt my fights. If you get caught in my crossfire then it's your own fault and I won't pity you. I handle myself." It can lead to some unfriendly fire that may or may not be intentional on her part. She warned them, potentially hurt them, and then moved them out of the way to continue with her original opponent and complained the whole time. Some might interpret her willful attack as betrayal despite her warnings.
Ultimately, Jewel wouldn't go out of her way to betray a loved one (or label some of her own questionable actions as betrayal), but she also wouldn't bend to them if she had her own motivations in mind. She's set on doing what she wants to do and if no one gets in the way of that then she'll have no complaints. If she were put in a situation where she 'had' to betray someone, she would try her damnedest to figure out a way around it, or temporarily hurt their feelings and find the nearest window to explain herself at a later point.
GET TO KNOW YOUR MUTUALS!
Rules: Answer and tag six people you want to know better.
1. Favorite color: True purple; not to be confused with false purple 2. Last song: Only You by The Pretty Reckless, from Heather and Vincent's playlist. Heather's POV (She's crashing out) 3. Currently reading playing: Gregory Horror Show: Soul of Roses. The game is in early access, but it is a continuation (?) of an anime/game franchise I stumbled upon in 2020, but I believe it is originally from the early/mid-2000s. It is quirkly little series; all the characters in the show and original game are in this 3-D foldable papercraft style, though it is done away with in the more recent and newest game, Yet I remember the anime itself always striking me as darker than the game (Though I have not played the original since it is only on the PS2 and the other one was a mobile game reached only in Japan.) The anime follows 'You,' the first-person POV character, when they arrive at the mysterious and unsettling Gregory House. It focuses on "You's" mental struggles, and whether they will "return to reality" or stay at Gregory House. The identity of this POV character also changes from season to season, as season one implies "that it "You" is a man, and season two is implied to be a woman. Rose of Souls is fun as it is a rogue-like where you (or maybe "You?") get to basically "cosplay" as the extensive cast of bizarre characters ... after stealing their souls. 4. Currently watching: GabSmolder's Playthrough of Fran Bow. Dark narratives about mental health, demons, and wrapped realities are just my vibe. Plus, I love Itward, for I also strive to be a dapper skeleton
5. Currently craving: Honestly, any hot food. I just got home from my third 10-hour shift in a row... t-t I am currently cooking come kolaches

Name: Eri Lorewright, you can refer to me as either! (or Eeri, like Eerie, Lol)
Star Sign: Cancer ♋
Height: 5' 7
Middle name: [REDACTED] cause I’m uncomfy revealing it as it’s really gendered, and I’d like to be a non-binary enigma.
Put your itunes/spotify/youtube on shuffle. What are the first 6 songs that popped up?
This is Home - Cavetown
Lonely Dance- Set it Off
Everything at Once - Lenka
Bubblegum Bitch - Marinana & the Diamonds
Poison Within from Headless
Kill the Beast by Aurelio Voltaire
Ever had a poem or song written about you: Not that I am aware
When was the last time you played air guitar: Prolly a week, two weeks ago. And most definitely to Pick up the Pace by The Play Plays
Who is your celebrity crush?: Less of a crush, more gender envy for Scott Shpeley. He is the singer in the Play Plays and plays Edgar Allan in Catalyst’s musical Nevermore
What’s a sound you hate; sound you love?: Velcro, the hate the ripping sound. It makes my spin itchy. I love the sound of keys hitting against one another
Do you believe in ghosts?: Yes, though I don’t feel like I have any legit experiences. Others that I know have some stories. Other than that though I think building I work in is haunted. I repeatedly have the feeling someone was walked into the room while my back’s to the door, but when I look, no one is there.
How about aliens: Yeah, I figure if we can exist on our planet, why can’t other life exist on another planet?
Do you drive?: Yes, and once I was even licensed to drive a forklift!
If so have you ever crashed: Thankfully not.
What was the last book you read?: The Drowning Girls, it’s actually a play though by Beth Graham and Daniela Vlaskalic
Do you like the smell of gasoline: Eeh... sorta?
What was the last movie you saw?: 7 Women and a Murder
What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?: I don’t know. Mostly it’s all minor stupid things. Like once I crushed a cone incense with my thumb only to find it had just burned out and severely burn my finger. I was trying to declog the dermal we use at work to 3-hole punch paper when it slipped and I punched a perfect circle into my index and thumb.
Do you have any obsessions right now?: Yes, It’s the Nevermore musical. I Love EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! I cannot rationally explain it. but the costumes and props being made primary out of masking tape, sticks, and landscaping fabric give Catalyst’s production such a unique and darkly quirky feel. It’s a part fact, part fiction telling of Edgar Allan Poe’s life birth to death, using lines and themes from his own stories and poems as the lyrics and lines. Which as a life time Poe fan myself is a fun little easter egg hunt to identify what is being referenced. The music is SO powerful, it just rattles round in my head all the time now, especially Dream within a Dream. The setup and narrative style of the show had once of the best pay off I could have imagined; no spoilers but it was great. The cast is FANTASTIC! I love Scott Shpeley and I want to be his version of Poe, because honestly Nevermore’s Poe is just Goth boy Heath and I love that. But also I love Beth Graham, who yes wrote the play the Drowning Girls, but she is super funny and a great character actor. She plays three roles in Nevermore, including Fanny Allan, who I love, best mom. But Beth Graham does a great job of giving all three of her characters distinct voices. Love love love. The amount of love and creativity that has gone into this show is incredible. And I know that my passion and love for this show is crossing the line into unhinged, but E. A. Poe said it best, “I was never really insane except upon occasions when my heart was touched.”

I think Lucy would like Logan! Lucy’s p friend shaped and likes most people, especially when they’re nice and throw her a bone and talk to her. Lucy herself is high energy and hyperactive most of the time. She’s always looking at the bright side of things and for solutions to anything that may cross her path. She’s a self proclaimed inventor that likes to collect keys and junk metal.
She’s very nosy and prone to get into a lot of places she should not be in, or learning things about people she doesn’t know. She’s a risktaker that’s always up for an adventure...
She’d go cryptid hunting with Logan for sure, or try to throw together some kind of trap to lure their target.
