They both got back to the Eve Castle with the kid. Kay was sure he wasn’t a nightmare and leaving him there wasn’t an option so the best they could do was asking what to do with the kid. They walked for some minutes and when the arrived, they knock the door two times before going inside. 

“ You said you have an important question...” Vincent looked at Kay first but then his attention went to the kid.

“Yes, Sir” Kay replied “we found this kid in the south part of the Kingdom, he was there alone and we couldn’t find any sign that someone was there with him”

“He was with a Nighthound” Soldeus add “ then the creature just left and he got close the get the kid, he is not hurt for what we can see”

“We were thinking about trying to find his parents around in the town, but to me, he doesn't look like a nightmare so we decided to come to ask you what we should do with him?”

“He is not a nightmare, he is a Haros” vincent looked at the kid again, it was easy to see he wasn’t comfortable with the kid presence “the best you can do is take him back where you found him, Haros are able to hide their presence to any other creature so even if his parents are around you wouldn’t be able to find them”

“But sir, it’s just a kid, if we take him back he could be in danger” 

“I agreed with Soldeus, Sir, we can’t leave him there to die”

“I’m aware that you both don’t know much about the Haros, but believe me when I say that’s the best you can do”

“What are you guys talking...Oh my god! Is that your guys' baby?!”Jekyll was coming from the living room, her calm turns into the excitement the moment she saw the little kid”

“NO” Kay replied immediately “He is not our kid! Don’t say that, please, Miss” he looked down and Soldeus just smile at him, being close to him he could notice Kay was blushing.

“We found him in the south part fo the kingdom, Jekyll” Soldeus explain while Kay was trying to regain his formality. “But we are gonna take him back because that’s our order”

“Wait, you can leave a kid alone! We could die or something could happened”

“Jekyll” Vincent interrupt her “ You haven't noticed what is he? We can’t keep him here, we have enough with the Spirit better don’t mess up with the Haros too”

“Aww, but Vince! He is just a little kid! if his parents come looking for him it’s better if we give him back safe instead that they finding a corpse because he decided not to help.”

“Je..”

“He stays! He is too cute to let him go” she got close and grab the kid from Soldeus’s arms “You will be fine small one! It's better to keep you safe in case your parents come for you”

“So he is gonna stay with you?” Kay asked.

“Yes! I’ll take care of him, it’s just a baby, how hard can it be?” she smiled to the kid at the moment she put him on the floor.

“Wait! That’s a...” Soldeus’s words were suddenly interrupted by Kay, who put his hand in his mouth.

“Shhh, don’t talk too loud, we can put in risk that kid” he whispered a little nervous, removing his hand. 

“Shouldn’t we try to help him?” He asked in a low voice “What if that thing it’s trying to eat him?!”

“ Believe me, if that thing wanted to eat that kid it would have done it already” he was looking at the creature and the kid, surprised by the fact that the kid was petting and hugging the creature as if was a dog and the creature was letting the kid doing it without showing any aggressive sign. 

“Then what do we do? We can’t leave him there, he could be the son of someone in the town, what if their parents are looking for him?”

“I know, but if we get close that thing can attack the kid or attack us and even if we can kill it... We have to think in another way to get close. The kid doesn’t look hurt, that’s a relief”

While they were thinking on a way to get closer they noticed that, after pushing the kid with its head, the nighthound turnaround and started walking away from him, stopping once just to look back, almost like it was a goodbye to the child who was just standing in the same place. He wasn’t smiling anymore, he looked more confused. The creature started walking again, getting away and disappearing in the shadow of the tree that was close.

“Ok, let’s go” Kay ran to the kid’s direction.

“E-ey! How do you know that thing it’s completely gone?

“I’m not sure” he replied back without stop running, with Soldeus behind him “but it’s our better chance”

They both got close to the little kid who just looked at them with curiosity.

“Hey little boy” Kay stopped running when he was getting close, trying not to scare him “What are you doing here all by yourself? “ he asked, smiling to the kid who just moves his head, clearly more confused.

“I’m glad he looks fine. You think we can find his parents?”

“Come here, let me hug you” Kay got close and extended his arms to grab the little kid “You are very friendly, don’t you?” he smiled to the kid before turning to Soldeus “He is not a Nightmare, I’m pretty sure his parents aren’t in this kingdom”

“How you know that?” he asked looking at the kid “What makes him different?”

“His eyes” he replied while taking another look to the kid who was looking and them both before start playing with Kay’s uniform’s buttons “All nightmares have purple eyes, different shades of purple but still purple”

“But you don’t have purple eyes and you are a nightmare,” Soldeus noticed while looking at Kay’s eyes who immediately turn around. 

“I have them” he was trying to take the kid’s hands off his uniform “I just use magic to change it, most nightmares can’t do it and kids are not an exception, they don’t have magic until they are teens and changing appearance it’s a high level magic that most common nightmares never learn”

“It’s the first time you tell me this...”

“Is not important, I have my reasons” he kindly smiled to Soldeus like asking him to change the subject “Now let’s go back if he is not a nightmare we will have to ask our superiors what to do with him”.

“Yeah, let’s go back before that thing come back and discover we just stole its food”

They were almost done with the patrol, there was one place more to check before they could return to the base, give their report and then go back home. 

“Last site and we are done, what you want to do after?” Soldeus asked Kay who was walking behind him, looking around and trying to not fall asleep of boredom “I don’t think you will tolerate staying at home another day”.

“No, I’m sick of being home, to be honest. Why don’t we go to eat outside? I’ll give you permission to avoid your training today just to get out of here for a while” he replied before stopping “Ey, we are almost done, keep walking”.

“What is that?” he asked in a whisper.

“What?” He followed Soldeus’s sight until he discovers what had got his attention “Wow, have been many years since I saw one, It’s really weird to find them especially on daylight”

“And that is?” Soldeus looked at him, waiting for a response.

“It’s a Nighthound, I can tell by its horns and the weird fur, any other animal in the kingdom look like this” he explains without taking his attention off the animal.

“I think that’s the first time you mention that word. Would you mind explain?”

“Nighthound, it’s a dumb word people made up to call the nightmare version of hellhounds. Long-time ago, people, mostly humans, used to be too afraid of hellhounds and being dragged to hell so they start having nightmares and as you know, many of the things that exist here are made by people all over the dimensions as a representation of their fears. Those ones aren’t different”

“Gabriel’s real form looks a lot different than this”

“Yes, as I said, they are just how people imagine it a long time ago. They are not even close to our King’s real form and don’t have their powers neither, Nighthounds can find anything but they can’t drag souls to hell or anything like that, they are just excellent hunters. Nowadays it’s really difficult to see them around, normally the live in the outside part of the kingdom, in the wilderness. They aren’t aggressive if you don’t get in their territory our close to their food”.

“And what is doing inside the barrier? I know animals can come and go freely from  but you say these guys doesn’t like being close so... what brought it here?”

“I have no clue but we should just leave it alone and go...”

“ Wait, there is something more there, I don’t know what it is but I'm sure it is what has its attention.”

“Hmm, you are right...”

Epilogue O2/O5

Mr. Hyde: Next one is Soldeus. Another dragon in the water.

Ms. Jekyll: He didn’t enjoy the ride~

Mr. Hyde: Not so much but he was doing fine until he decided to suddenly stop.

Ms. Jekyll: Oh yes, that killed his record...

Mr. Hyde: At the end, he looked relieved that he was able to finish at least.

Ms. Jekyll: Yes, it's better to be outside than die in the water.

Mr. Hyde: I was hoping that happen today.

Ms. Jekyll: ...

Mr. Hyde: Too soon?

Ms. Jekyll: Too soon.

Mr. Hyde: Last one was mister hellhound.

Ms. Jekyll: He definitely didn’t enjoy all this. He didn’t even get close until he was the only one left.

Mr. Hyde: He wasn’t even going to jump on the water.

Ms. Jekyll: It’s normal doesn’t it? Hellhound = hell = fire = No water please?

Mr. Hyde: Yeah, but look the best part, he wanted to go out so bad that he completes these trial with a good record.

Ms. Jekyll: When you are doing something you don’t like you just want to do it fast.

Mr. Hyde: Like you with your work?

Ms. Jekyll: Yes... I MEAN NO! I like my work!

Mr. Hyde: Anyway, they are done, we will talk with our Queen about the results.
