“ why do you only call me after ten pm ... hm ? ” innocence exudes off of her like perfume , cherubic features silhouetted within dark vicinity of other's vehicle . virtuous , yes , but not dumb . these late night meetings weren't his usual MO ... & lorelei's not silly enough to think she's somehow different than any other girl he's had in this passenger seat . may be taking longer ― that much was true , but can tell by the way he looks at her , intentions are one in the same . “ are you unable to get to know someone when the sun is up ? ”

WANTED CONNECTIONS.
➥ close girlfriends: i'd love to see a group of two or three girlfriends who always have lorelei's back -- despite her initially being closed off and distrusting. they could have all met in school or at different stages of their lives, but one thing is for certain, they have each other's back no matter what.
➥ her regular client: someone who often needs their clothing repaired due to their line of work. this person often just goes straight to lorelei because they trust her handiwork, and they've become either closely/acquainted or good friends.
➥ her psudo-child: this is someone who lorelei believes to be amongst the closest individual she has to true blood family outside of her aunt. this character always comes to her for advice, and feels comfortable asking for herself -- something she doesn't take lightly. they may not share dna, but they share a soul.
lorelei rush (born lorelei baxter) was born and raised in a family that was anything but intact. her mother tried, truly. she did. it was her father that shattered it all. arguments were constant, and she was borderline forgotten about. the older she got, lorelei found herself becoming her own parent, making herself meals, treading to school until she repurposed a bike from the side of the road. from there, she took that to school from the trailer park and back again. taught herself to fix her own clothes out of necessity, which would later turn into a lifelong passion. she did what she could and soon enough? the screaming at night and the clattering of beer bottles became nothing more than background noise.
she first met the man who would eventually become her husband, as he once promised, in grade school. lorelei always found herself intentionally sitting alone, avoiding any chance at friendship. it was easier that way, wasn't it? damien rush, however, was as persistent as they come. she remembers their first true words like yesterday: why me? because you're going to be my wife one day. the last thing she expected was for him to end up telling the very same story at their wedding.
even if she had someone in her corner, someone who she found herself trusting deeply in a terrifying turn of events, things certainly got worse before they got better. she begins to understand just how long she's been exposed to her father's alcoholism as she reaches high school. how he's never really been here, truly present. at fourteen lorelai's aunt gets involved -- finally seeing that her brother would never see reason. there was no part of him that wanted to be sober. be there for his daughter. she relocates to her home, where she finally begins to find a semblance of normal.
by the time she finishes school -- she knows what she wants. not just to be better than the parents who didn't fight for her, but she wants a life with damien. she knew what he was mixed up with, and who. he fought desperately to keep her from them, made her promise that she'd keep her life separate from the jackals. despite her fierce independence, her desperate need to always make her own choices -- she agreed. they get married. even if he wants her as far away from the jackals as he can keep her, she still promises to love him through it all. in sickness and in health. in life and in death.
she takes a tailors position at the sewing room despite a passion for design and making clothes. it's a way to get by. make a life for herself and the man she loves, and still somehow feel connected to the art that she loves so much. damien invites her to join him in ownership at the diner, which she accepts. they don't need every material pleasure in this world. more than anything, all they truly need is each other. to get by, and to have the lifetime damien promised her all those years ago.
it’s true, lorelei was no spy, but she could occasionally determine when to keep a secret. for instance— when it concerned her employer. they were the last person who needed to know of lorelei’s budding interest in poisonous plants— need they decide to inquire further about her intentions with said plants. besides, she finds lady aurora far more interesting in this regard. when aurora speaks to lorelei, it never goes in one ear and through the other— she somehow manages to summon her utmost attention each and every time. even when she’s in one of those grouchy spells and rather not bother with her incessant questioning.
over time, lorelei is able to locate the herbologist with more and more ease, with today being her fastest attempt yet. “good afternoon, aurora,” she announces with an misleading urgency, considering the nature of her request. “are you occupied right now? if so, with what, might i ask?” perhaps she’d learn something new today.
" the sea? why, i suppose you could assume it that way ... "
you speak, a look of thought for just a moment that is plastered on a soft pale visage. though it isn't truly the sea, is it? more equivalent to .. each drop of which makes it up. the individuals that find themselves speaking to your ears.
your smile returns, with a gentleness to it that does not line up with one typical image of child like joy.
" today, it's a solider. oh? is it familiar to you, too, sir? his voice is so soft .. he speaks of war, and what comes of it in the land of freedom ... how, ah - well, i suppose all voices are lovely in their own way! "
