She moved to Oblivia to be a ranger, saved the region, found some ruins and ventured in next thing anyone knows both she and her partner pichu are gone. Disapeared without trace. Only she with her knowledge of the signs could enter the true heart of the ruins and go through to the world of pokemon. All anyone else saw was a dead end.
She also saved a gardevoir at some point, and learnt the language of the guardians, like that the signs are, thats the legendary pokemon, or guardians, language. And she learnt it. Her regions language is endangered so maybe she had a passion for languages. Would she have had to choose a Galarian starter? If she did maybe thats why she rebelled and arrived in Oblivia without a pokemon of her own. She has amnesia she cant remember who she was, she cant remember what these languages are, she cant remember the traditions her family died to keep, and now she lost them. She lost her lore, the Lorekeeper, named after one defining act, lost her own lore though she tried to keep that of others. And when she discarded her human name when she lost King, she unknowingly lost the last of her connection to the language that was so important to her when she was a human.
And then she becomes bound to Herro, who had at this point been passed around from guardian to guardian and had lost all their lore - they are born as whatever is needed to save the world.
