i had a question for you all here. are there any satanic organizations i could look into as a satanic leftist? i hate how much fascism and anti-equality there is in places like CoS and TST, and i want to find an organization that’s actually a good place to associate myself with. i hope this question makes sense haha

You probably shouldn't be a Satanist, if you can avoid it. That would be our standing advice.

On average, it's not even clear we're better than the average Christian, we just have less power (as Satanists) to oppress people than they do (as Christians). Our common texts and culture remain gross and problematic.

Additionally, for historical reasons that mainly stem from Anton LaVey and his biases, Satanism was always an extremely white community, and it remains that way. As you know, white communities end up having white priorities.

You're probably going to have to build your own community regardless, but some other organizations to look into or connect with might be:

That's not exhaustive. They're just groups who are worth investigating.

If the main thing that drew you to The Satanic Temple was the Seven Tenets, GoS has "six pillars", Satanic Australia has "six principles", and so on. Additionally, some have a focus on writings to undergird your Satanism intellectually; others are on organizing and taking actions, rituals, including trolly protests, counter-protesting street fascists, and even community gardening.

Depending on what specifically interests you in nontheistic satanism, you may end up building your own out of parts of some/all/none of them.

I wouldn't say we're qualified to know anything about the internal workings of other groups to be able to say definitively how they operate.

Just philosophically and based on writings, LORE NYC has some good writings, Luciferian Dominion isn't exactly Satanic and has some doomier tendencies we don't necessarily vibe with, but they're unequivocally antifascist. Benjamin T Awesome used to be with TST in LA before they split and became helLA, I think. "Satanism is a trainwreck" is especially good.

Global Order of Satan is a lot more active than both of those in-person and has representation in Europe, but I don't know that they write a ton.

It's not so much that Satanism lends itself to individuality as that Satanism, by and large, has never been an organic movement, and to some degree it inherits a lot of the style-over-substance grift that LaVeyan Satanism was all about.

Even though they're suing us, one of the things we can legitimately say The Satanic Temple did, and seems not really to have been prepared for, was attracting sincere folks who actually gave a shit about other people around them and didn't view themselves as elites in society.

But the problem is they weren't joining a community; they were joining a hierarchical for-profit corporation concerned with defending the intellectual property rights of everything they managed to enclose from the commons.

That is a fatal flaw that can't really be reformed considering how the org is set up, but it may lead to people who were attracted and disillusioned after realizing what's up being the same people who go on to create better organizations in the future.
