Violet Anderson was the high-ranking Director of Marine Research in Urbanshade's recent faction, the Hadal Division. She basically oversaw the caretaking of the creatures being studied there. Her personal favorite to take care of was a recently taken-in black bull shark, one that she had named 'Nessie,' after her favorite mythological sea creature, and one that had been sick with a previously thought 'incurable' disease. However, with their recent groundbreaking technology, they had been able to drive the infection out of her system.
Every day, without fail, Violet would go down to the basement level to nurture the traumatized sea beauty, often running her hands over its back to soothe it, which worked every time. However, one day, she went to visit, and Nessie was gone. This startled her. The containment hadn't been breached, which meant she was taken away by operatives. Asking around, it seemed that nobody knew what had happened. However, weeks later, she found the bull shark, in the depths of the restricted sector, in a pool of radioactive sludge.
This shook her more than anything. What had they done to her? Experiment? Hell, the shark could be dead by now! But alas, her clearance wasn't high enough. Nobody believed her when she tried to tell them what had happened. Though, some of the higher-ranking officials gave her a suspicious look, as if they knew something that she didn't Not three nights after the revelation, she was in that same room, gazing through the glass at her once comfortable friend.
But as she was making her way out, she heard a voice. Not in the room. In her head. Without thinking, or rather being forced to, she turned towards what seemed like an eerie green light. The second she did, her entire field of vision was clouded with green eyes. Nothing she did could keep her from continuing to stare. She just..couldn't look away.
The bull shark -- or whatever it was, now, -- rammed into the glass. It cracked. Starting out small, getting larger. Once. Twice. Three times.
The glass shattered.
Everything went black.
Violet could feel her flesh ripping.
Her bones breaking.
And then everything fell away.
But she didn't die.
