some iselda lore thoughts and much of it in connection with robin ...
iselda had been to ohara once before. she wasn't born there. she was there when she was around 10 years old, which would put robin around 4 years old since they have about a 6 year age difference. now, i believe she did meet robin while she was there, but i'll have to check the timeline of when olvia left robin with her brother and sister in law, to see where that places things character wise for robin. robin may or may not remember iselda and mavis, but they didn't spend a long time in ohara. maybe a month tops.
iselda remembers a lot about their sojourn to ohara and the time spent there. she had also eavesdropped and her mother speaking with the scholars about their interest in the void century. but, her mother didn't and wouldn't share this information with iselda. she knew that it was dangerous. but, mavis did plan to share this with her daughter in the future when she was older. however, while i haven't narrowed down her mother's research specialty, they weren't traveling to find information on the void century itself. while mavis would keep her eye out for information regarding it, it wasn't something she was searching for especially since iselda was with her on their travels.
iselda is around 14 years old when mavis finds information on the void century during a travel. it was either that or about the ancient weapons. i'll figure it out. or, it could be that she held various pieces of a bigger puzzle and it all connects on one such travel. whatever the case may be, it's major enough that she decides to travel to ohara with her findings. but, her and iselda are shipwrecked along the way.
when iselda drifts onto the island where she's rescued, the people there are 'worshippers' of D. i think instead of a prophetess telling her mom when she's born about the "prophecy" regarding iselda, it will be here that they tell her this. they believe that all inheritors of D will bring about great world change and iselda, in particular, will be among those who bring destruction.
the news about ohara and the wanted poster of robin reaches her months later. of course, she doesn't believe a single thing printed in the papers about ohara or robin. there's a marine outpost on the island towards the city center and away from the more rural village that iselda ends up in. traveling there, she seeks answers but finds the city is run by corrupt marines. observing the situation, she comes to the conclusion that if corruption exists here, there may be corruption higher up the chain.
fueled by what she perceive is injustice (which she would be correct) and the corruption she witnesses, she thinks about how she can find robin and help her, while also learning why ohara was destroyed. she would later conclude that the only way would be to join the marines and use resources therein to find what she needs.
