On a warm bright day, Sunday 26th April 2015 at about 7pm-ish to be exact. My sister and I decided to walk from a Hijama practitioners house to where all the asian clothing and book shops are at on Coventry Rd. Apparently this walk should have taken us 20mins to reach the shops. Whilst following the navigator on my phone which was nearly running out of battery juice, we reached Coventry Rd.... Being born and bred out of townies and hardly coming to asian areas, little did we know that Coventry Rd is actually quite a long stretch of road. There were no signs of these so called asian shops, so we embarked on a little adventure and decided to keep walking straight, we were bound to get to the shops....rite? .... Wrong. As we kept walking we became more and more weary and worried that we might actually be lost. And because it was my idea to walk, I felt really guilty. Wandering along this stretch of road, which seemed like a dual carriageway; we came across a really interesting building. The architectural design was really beautiful, with a glossy feel to it, (I should get the architect and builders numbers lol) and outside this aesthetically pleasing building was an equally good looking black Rolls-royce. It's a shame I didn't take a pic but my brain was too focussed on trying to reach my destination without crying about being lost. Anyways, the first thing I thought was: For a grand design kind of building, this car makes a good accessory item. The second thing I thought was: Astagfurrullah, the licence plate says Lord, who on earth would have such a plate. Then I thought: hmmm maybe its a gora that has bought a title and is now called Lord so and so. (Maybe I should buy one too, as you get more privileges in certain places.) At the time, I had never heard of Lord Aleem. Fast forwarding a little. A few days ago, whilst randomly looking at pics on Instagram I came across the same car. Having a déjà vu moment, what a weird twist of fate to have come across the same car, I thought. Intrigued I clicked on the pic and had a 'doh!' moment, I thought to myself "Omg, that car is famous and it belongs to an apna not a gora" .... Now i'm thinking, I shoulda taken a selfie with the car lol. The quote "ignorance is bliss" comes to mind.
