Mermay - Chapter 2

Searching for you

After having saved the merman (and sustaining quite the scar from it's claws) something rather peculiar happened. The merboy seemed to search Lorenzo out. Without much trouble he always seemed to find him when he was out at sea. Nosy and curious he eyes and watches Lorenzo, sometimes giving weird inhuman noises off that sound scratchy and rough. During a swim in the sea Lorenzo realizes how beautiful the sound is underwater. It seems like the merboy recognizes that Lorenzo helped him and dares now to fish and hunt closer to the boats. And every time the boy gets caught, Lorenzo helps him out of the net. In return the merboy seems to herd more fish into the nets as a means of thanks.

That all changed when Lorenzo had to skip one day out on the sea and in his stead someone else helped out on the boat.

Mermay - Chapter 1

A Chance meeting where Water and Sky intertwine

Lorenzo is a young fisherman in the Harbor city of Vongola Cape. He has been obsessed with the sea ever since he was a younf boy. During a normal routine fishing trip their boat catches what he can only describe as y humanoid fish. One he perveives to be mail, with the fin of a shark, sharp teeth and claws. He gets the other seamen to release the creture, but not without it swatting against Lorenzo, causing him two deep cuts to his face. He wished he could've studied this creature, but he knows that the sea should not be disturbed. Take as much as you need and never more.

Mermay - Chapter 3

Caught

After Lorenzo had to sit out a day, he returned to the boat, the sea, with seeing no sign of the merboy anywhere. He saw a different merman in the whateres, a bigger one, white, looking like a shark. But it never came properly up to the surface. However it WAS attacking the boats severely. That's when Lorenzo overhears some people talk about the nearby marine institute having caught a "merfolk" recently. A mershark they dubbed "A" as the first specimen in their grasp. Without thinking much about it, Lorenzo managed to sneak inside on false pretenses and finds his... friend... held captive in a tube like tank with little space to swim around. His formerly strong scales seemed to fall off, leaving smooth underskin that would most likely tear in the wild and the strong muscles on his body deteriorated. He seems to become... more human the more he is in low pressure shallow waters. They just call him "A" but Lorenzo decided to give him a different name. "Ava". Life.

I can't leave him here, he thinks. He does not belong here.

From one of the scientific journals that Lorenzo stole:

It seems that this specific specimen shares many similarities with the white mershark seen in Project "Squalo". Their scales reside and their eyes adapt to the pressure around them, but this specific one seems to preffer high pressure and minimal light. They hunt swiftly and use their clawlike hands to break open skin while their long tail wraps around their prey, suffocating them in place as they tear into the flesh. It seems to be of low inteligence, likely less than a common housecat and does not understand human nature. It's hostile but recoils from oil and electricity. The hair has algae nature, including it's ability to turn co2 into o2, making it a natural filter, which coincides with the gill placement in it's neck and face. Reproductive organs have not been discovered yet. Many open questions still. The specimen has cried and wailed for hours after it's capture, then stopped and hasn't made a sound since. If it's physical state deteriorates further, this specimen will be likely taken to disection.

Sometimes it feels like we're just normal people

I was just told that I aparently didn't upload this? I was so sure I did but I can't find the post anymore...

Anyway, it's the boys. Looking like normal people. And not assassins with a three digit body count

There is a pause. The click of a tongue in annoyance, before Lorenzo rolls his eyes. Rules are rules after all.

"Can't think oif anything.", he says with a shrug of his shoulders.

"I can keep my cool. Nothing can fluster me."

"Oh bullshi-" The side comment by Sergey is cut off by a mechanical voice saying UNO, foillowed by Sergeys cursing of "son of a---!"

"How so?" Lorenzo asks once Leo finished the round of UNO, winning and clapping into his hands, euphorically, while his best friend had his head in his hands. Slowly Sergey groans and then raises his head again.

"Oh come on, you can't tell me that Ava being genuinely affectionate and lovey dovey wouldn't make you all flustered. You always try to be cool, but if that guy comes at you with true genuine love, I bet you can't stay calm."

"Nother round?"

"OH YOU BET YOUR TUSHY ASS!"

Lorenzos attention is drawn away from his colleagues, when he hears his phones alarm go off and with a groan he rises from the cushiony couch.

"Allright, off to my next shift.", he says before he waves a goodbye to Leo and Ser, who again seems to be already losing.

Once outside the others words run through his mind again. Genuine affection huh? Would that really get to him? If Ava dropped all pretense, all his pride and ego and simply ....

He feels his cheek heat up and his ears ring.
