Mermay - Chapter 3
Caught
After Lorenzo had to sit out a day, he returned to the boat, the sea, with seeing no sign of the merboy anywhere. He saw a different merman in the whateres, a bigger one, white, looking like a shark. But it never came properly up to the surface. However it WAS attacking the boats severely. That's when Lorenzo overhears some people talk about the nearby marine institute having caught a "merfolk" recently. A mershark they dubbed "A" as the first specimen in their grasp. Without thinking much about it, Lorenzo managed to sneak inside on false pretenses and finds his... friend... held captive in a tube like tank with little space to swim around. His formerly strong scales seemed to fall off, leaving smooth underskin that would most likely tear in the wild and the strong muscles on his body deteriorated. He seems to become... more human the more he is in low pressure shallow waters. They just call him "A" but Lorenzo decided to give him a different name. "Ava". Life.
I can't leave him here, he thinks. He does not belong here.

It seems that this specific specimen shares many similarities with the white mershark seen in Project "Squalo". Their scales reside and their eyes adapt to the pressure around them, but this specific one seems to preffer high pressure and minimal light. They hunt swiftly and use their clawlike hands to break open skin while their long tail wraps around their prey, suffocating them in place as they tear into the flesh. It seems to be of low inteligence, likely less than a common housecat and does not understand human nature. It's hostile but recoils from oil and electricity. The hair has algae nature, including it's ability to turn co2 into o2, making it a natural filter, which coincides with the gill placement in it's neck and face. Reproductive organs have not been discovered yet. Many open questions still. The specimen has cried and wailed for hours after it's capture, then stopped and hasn't made a sound since. If it's physical state deteriorates further, this specimen will be likely taken to disection.
