Odd how these things line up. My comic Year of the Marachi has been influenced by many things over the years but one of the biggest sources of inspiration is Anthony Bourdain. The current chapter I am working on was meant to be a tribute of sorts since his work has done so much for me personally and artistically - character goes to a new city, talks with the locals, empathises with the marginalized, eats some food. In a sick, stomach-churning way it is fitting that this is the chapter I was working on when I found out about his death. Here's a zoom in of one of the panels in the chapter with my attempt of drawing Bourdain on the left.
