Day 3: The longest book you’ve read
Usually books that are exceptionally long do not draw me to them. I feel that for the most part books over 450 pages tend to ramble. However, 11/22/63 by Stephen King absolutely defies this likelihood. It is 880 pages and is absolutely one of the best books I have ever read.Â
I have a BA in history and am working on my MA. Thus, I don’t really enjoy historical fiction. Real history is so much more interesting. But the “what if” history of the JFK assassination has always been a temping historical hole to fall down. Thankfully, King did it for me.
I spent the summer of 2013 reading this book during lunch breaks at my internship. I flew through 75+ pages during a half hour lunch break because it was so deliciously good. And, at the end, I was satisfied.
I hear that people are turning the book into a series for Hulu which I’m both excited and scared for. Hopefully it will be good. But, even if it’s not, the book will still exist in its enrapturingly delightful prose.
