Milton Glaser: The Man Who Forever Changed Graphic Design

Milton Glaser may be the most influential graphic designer who ever lived. From the legendary Push Pin Studios he co-founded to the iconic “I ♥ NY” logo, to the 1967 psychedelic Bob Dylan poster, Glaser helped define the visual language of the 1960s and beyond.

In this video, I reflect on how Glaser changed graphic design forever, and why his designs remain as fresh and relevant today as when they were first created.

It is worth recalling the importance of iconographic material in the study of hunting dog breeds.

Paintings, watercolours, drawings, sketches, and later photographs are not merely representations, but essential tools for understanding the origin and development of a breed.

In the Russian context, one of the earliest references is the Journal of Horse-breeding and Hunting, founded in 1842 under the direction of N. M. Reutt. Over nine years, the publication included only seven lithographic images of dogs, issued on separate sheets.

A limited number, yet enough to show how clearly the role of form and its visual transmission was already understood.

This booklet gathers moments — verses, similes, brief scenes — in which sighthounds appear, between literature and myth.

It does not aim to resolve philological debates, but to trace how authors and traditions have seen these dogs, and how those images have travelled over time.

Texts are presented, when useful, in their original language, with working translations and concise notes. The term sighthound is used functionally, following the sources and acknowledging their limits.

A selective, restrained work, meant to be read slowly.
