For Cal’s birthday maybe the doves decide to go on a little trip with the kids and end up on their way to a lake house which is erm a v long 8 hours but hey it’s a road trip😁 which involved them all having to get super early something that is never good for Dovey nor Elly cos they love their sleep 😤 so they’re all in the car Calum & Charles both having to deal with their grumpy girls but not for long as they eventually doze 😌 Charlie making cal play his fav playlist aka the throwback playlist cos who doesn’t love old 1D and Jonas brothers songs. The cars filled with snacks and cozy blankets for the doves early trip. Maybe they stop at McDonald’s for some fries as well cos those fries are good. And with all long car trips result in Dovey feeding Calum all the food cos after the one time Calum made the mistake of driving with one hand, Dovey made him swear not to do it again - not that he’s composing he loves it when Dovey gives him attention 🥰

Stopping at a random diner cos they’re all hungry and no one wants to deal with a hangry Dovey or Elly for that matter. Charles and Elly settling for pancakes that are stacked way too big for them 😧 They are in pancake heaven whilst the doves are consuming all the coffee they can get their hands on cos they still have an extremely long 5 hours to go with they ✨lovely ✨ offsprings. And after having a meal that could be fit for a queen they’re all off on the road again. Dovey offering to drive but Calum just makes a comment about how he’s fine and that not everyone needs an insane amount of sleep which results in Dovey slapping his arm and turning back to sleep😌 but then Calum makes the wrong turn and their stupid gps is leading them the wrong way so ofc Dovey has to be woken up from her nap to save the trip 🙄 calums freaking out the kids are freaking out Dovey is losing the will to live but eventually they find their way back on track that is until the car starts running out of gas... even tho Dovey reminded cal to fill up the tank... which then results in a scared Calum... which also results in another little slap on the arm and that’s not from Dovey but from their two kids who just really want to go to the lake house and are tired of papa and his silly mistakes🥴

On the way their Charlie and Elly are asking their papa so many questions on whether there’s monsters in the lake, Elly teasing Charlie about how mr tortillas long lost family are gonna come and take him back which leads to Charlie crying and Dovey having to sit at the back comforting him. Eventually after the tears, snacks and many MANY questions the kids are asleep giving the doves that somewhat alone time 🥰 and maybe they’ve only got a few hours left on the road, Doveys hand in Cal’s curls playing around with it whilst they reminisce on the past few years and how birthdays went from just the two of them to their family of 4 and they couldn’t have had it any better way 😌

Anyways that is a little road trip ask that has been in my head for a few days cos I would like nothing more then to be the doves on their very joyful road trips 😌cos let’s be honest they would probably have a top tier playlist and don’t even get me started on their carpool karaokes also there may or may not be a 1D reference in there 👀 I’ll see if you get it lmao & if there are typos... I do not see 😵

long ask anon back at it again with making me want to scream 🥺 i can’t add anything to this because it’s perfect and a great way for calum’s birthday to start 🥺

the thing that stood out the most to me (besides the 1d and cuteness of baby doves) was the image of dovey and calum finally being able to have alone time with the little ones asleep in the backseat. dovey’s hand in calum’s curls while they talk about the past and how much things have change. maybe due to all the pit stops and the wrong turns (thanks cal 🙄) the sun is starting to set on that fine january evening and the sky looks so pretty but dovey doesn’t think the sunset could ever compete with how calum looks right now with his pretty curls tangled in her fingers and his smile causing wrinkles near his eyes.

The night before he’s just so excited cos he’s finally old enough to go on tour and actually remember it cos last time he was just a little baby 🥺 and when the doves showed him pics of tour before he was born Charlie’s just like “where’s me... papa take me there ☹️” and ofc whilst the doves are packing he tries to sneak in mr tortilla and duke cos like they’re gonna miss him 🤷‍♀️ which then results in the Calum having to pry mr tortilla out of Charlie’s hands and Dovey deciding to put him to bed cos they have an early start and he’s starting to get pouty but before that he gives a massive huggle to his parents ofc cos he can’t wait for the day to start

So waking up a very sleep Charles is almost as tough as waking up a very sleepy Dovey, something Calum has to do both. So whilst he sweet talks his small baby (and his bigger one) into finally waking up, they’re off in the Uber to the airport & Charlie is literaly in dreamland. He’s sitting in between the doves holding their hands occasionally squeezing it with excitement whenever he talks about how cool the snows gonna be in Scotland or the Sandy beaches in Aussie. And ofc since the UK is their first stop Doveys got him wrapped up in his adorable marshmellow jacket and a small beanie that matches his papa and the doves just want to squish him and never let him go 🥺

Anyways airport time and Charlie boarding is just the cutest thing ever. He’s skipping away whilst holding Doveys hand, playing along that weird flat escalator thing running up and down whilst calums jsit like “pls don’t fall 😣” then he’s by the windows squishing his face up -much to Doveys dismay cos like germs- but he’s so happy to see all those big planes take off they’re even bigger than his uncle Luke 🤯 and finally actually boarding the plane and maybe calums pulled a few strings so Charlie gets to meet the pilot & see the cockpit and his mind is blown cos this is the best trip so far... anyways when the planes taken off he’s like cuddled into Calum, whilst Doveys stretched her hand out to hold his and he’s just living his best life with the headphones that are way to big for his head watching toy story & ofc staring out the window seeing all the fluffy clouds etc but you just know he was holding onto the doves for dead life as the plane took off and they were whispering sweet words into their sweet boys ears making sure he’s safe and sound in their arms 🥺 eventually Charlie just dozed off and before he knows it, it’s already time to get off the plane & head to the hotel and that is where the tour life starts 😌

charlie’s been talking about leaving for tour for weeks now. ever since the doves started packing and getting ready to take a child out on the road, charlie hasn’t stopped asking quieetions and the night before he’s basically shaking by the time he has to get into bed and sleep 😊

on the ride to the airport, he’s just spewing facts hers learn about the countries he’s gonna visit. he keeps telling calum about how they have kangaroos in australia and how they have to be careful to not get too close to them. calum is just nodding and looking at him shocked because, “no way!? kangaroos?!”

Okay so maybe the doves are visiting Doveys family & friends in England so they’re just staying at their holiday home or whatever. Since it’s February Dovey packs an insane amount of winter clothes from the puffiest jackets to the fluffiest of scarves. And one VERY COLD MORNING Dovey manages to wake up that slightest bit earlier before the kids come barging in and immediately climbing in for their daily huggle which seem to last even longer in the freezing weather. Calum is literally on top of her like she’s his human heater practically seeking all the warmth her body gives so like after a few minutes of holding her sweet boy she manages to release herself out of Calum’s hold, doing her little morning routine before heading downstairs. One look at the window and all Dovey sees is white and for some reason her first thought is that the world is ending the idea of snow not crossing her mind since the weather forecast didn’t predict it. After making her coffee and starting breakfast, Calum comes down with charlie and Elly clinging onto him with blankets wrapped around them and pls they would all look so cuddly🥺 Dovey simply stops what she’s doing and runs over to them to basically squeeze the life out her very tired but warm babies wrapped in the fluffiest of layers. And ofc they are all shocked at the snow and no doubt are the kids then begging their parents to go out and play in which the doves prepare themselves for yet another snow day with their kids.

Hhhh Later in the day, they all get ready to head out in the garden that is completely covered with layers and layers of snow, with snowflakes still falling down from the sky. Dovey makes sure everyone is wrapped with the utmost of layers cos no one is gonna catch a cold on her watch esp charlie who seems to me a little more sensitive to the cold then the others so ofc he has this infamous puffy coat that makes him look like a marshmallow, with many layers underneath that as well has a thick scarf, hat, and obviously his turtle gloves 😌Elly is just there in her all pink and white ensemble ready to drag her papa out the door who slipped once he got onto the very icy patio which Dovey couldn’t stop laughing at until she got on that same patio and also proceeded to fall 😶 cue death stares at Calum for not breaking her fall 🙄 and with a camera in hand Dovey manages to catch many shots of her babies out playing in the snow, making a snowman, Charlie attempting to push a big ball of snow that is twice his size but he is so determined to make the best snowman the world has ever seen, and ofc Elly is just preoccupied with making snow angels & maybe sneaking around to throw tiny snow balls at Charlie who is just confused cos who is throwing those little balls of snow at him 😕 and Dovey wouldn’t be Dovey if she didn’t do the same to Calum having made her own snowballs in preparation for the snowball fight that was about to commence in the time Calum was helping Charlie construct his surprisingly big snowman. And with one very successful throw that just pelted Cal’s egghead the snowball fight began and Dovey was not about to lose like she did the other day. With many throws, some being on target and others being way off, Calum at one point using Elly as his human shield in which resulted in Elly just grabbing a hand full of snow and smushing it in her papas face 💅🏽 after the little snowball fight which ended with Calum being the ultimate loser with his whole family ganging up against him, and damn did Charlie have a good arm with one of his snowballs hitting his papa straight in the nose tho he felt a little bad so he waddled over to his papa and gave his a little pat on the cheek and a kiss kiss 😙🥺 going over to the large hill and sledding down it, Elly being the first to go straight down with Dovey behind her who was absolutely terrified, holding onto Elly for dear life 😭 the kids and the doves collectively are all worn out and ready to head inside. Their faces red, Dovey can’t even feel her hands, and her nose being the reddest out of them all & Charlie’s just like woah mama is rudolph 🤯

And ofc after a very active day out in the snow, they all get changed into their warm pjs, Charlie and Elly in their matching set that has the dove melting over them. It’s a big family huggle in the living room, with blankets on top of blankets, mugs full of hot chocolate and Calum managing to have both of his arms wrapped around his family & despite it being in February that doesn’t stop them from watching Arthur Christmas because in Doveys words that is the best snow day film ever. Eventually the kids doze off, Elly quietly snoring with her head resting against her papas neck whilst Charlie is cuddled in the middle of the doves arms wrapped around Doveys waist whilst his his legs rest on his papa. And the doves couldn’t think of a better way to end their snow day then cuddling on the sofa, their kids in between them and managing to sneak in a few kiss kiss(es) whilst not waking up their babies 🥺

I went a little overboard with this lmao had to split it into 2 asks I guess that’s what snow days do to me and yes I may or may not have woken up to snow and thought the world was ending 😭😭 idek why but hope you enjoyed the ask started it last night and finished it today 🥰
