I'm sorry but you're just wrong. Short-sightedness does not come from reading a lot, that is good for you because it helps your focus. Most short-sighted people are born with a stigmatism, meaning the eyeball isn't round but an oval shape, I don't how it is for long-sightedness. Now, please tell me how having a deformity in the eyeball results in having a higher than average IQ.
No, Iām not wrong. Iāve both talked about this with myĀ optician and physics teacher. Yes, you can be born with it or develop it later in life because of genetics (or possibly another error that do that the eyeball grow to have an oval shape). Though you can also affect the eyes growth by reading a lot
Iām not aĀ statistician or scientist, but I can quote a source:
"A number of studies have shown the incidence of myopia increases with level of education,[54][60]Ā and many studies[70]Ā have shown a correlation between myopia and a higherĀ intelligence quotientĀ (IQ).
A 2008 literature review reported studies in several nations have found a relationship between myopia and higher IQ and between myopia and school achievement. A common explanation for myopia is near-work. Regarding the relationship to IQ, several explanations have been proposed. One is that the myopic child is better adapted at reading, and reads and studies more, which increases intelligence. The reverse explanation is that the intelligent and studious child reads more, which causes myopia. Still another explanation is thatĀ pleiotropicĀ gene(s) affect the size of both brain and eyes simultaneously. According to the two most recent studies, higher IQ may be associated with myopia in schoolchildren, independent of books read per week.[71]"Ā

Please do some research before you tell someone that they are wrong. Iām not ājust wrongā. Thereās several reliable sources that can back me up on this.
"Most short-sighted people are born with a stigmatism."
Well, my dad and I are not one of these āmost short-sighted peopleā then. I developedĀ myopia when I was 11-12 years old. It has gotten a lot worse since then.
"meaning the eyeball isnāt round but an oval shape"
I am well aware of what it means to be short-sighted, thank you.
"I donāt how it is for long-sightedness"
The eyeball is too short, in some cases.
